YAP 3 6FPS?

Guys,

Just installed the YAP3 update to my Win 7 PC 64 bit. FPS on leaving the carrier is around 3-4 FPS.

I have a GTX 560 card and sandybridge 3.4Gig processor and should eat almost anything I can throw at it graphics wise. I play with maxxed out settings on all my Strike fighters 2 installs and average 50-60 FPS.

Anybody else having this problem? Tweaking the graphics settings doesn't seem to make much difference.

Paul, I always had that same graphic problem whenever a mission starts on the carrier in YAP2. The graphic get smooth once I catapulted from the deck. I don't know what cause this problem. Never had this issue when I was playing it in Windows XP. Once I've upgraded to Vista and now, Windows 7, I get this graphic glitch. Maybe the old game engine doesn't like the new OS or the graphic card drivers. The problem is not a big deal to me. Good thing it doesn't happens when I'm returning to the ship and trying to catch the 3 wire.

Its the heavy duty artistry, skin, effects and details that are giving your system the hiccups. We decided to leave those alone rather than downgrading. Its not so bad on trapping as its a different model with less items.

I had a strong suspicion that it was the carrier that was causing the problem, as soon as it moves out of the shot the frame rate shoots up. I have a similar problem when flying Thuds over Hanoi. Fortunately I still have XP on my old PC, where leaving the carrier deck runs at around 20-24 FPS on an old GTX 295.

The low FPS kills this sim on Win 7, for me. I'll try a few more tweaks, but if there is no improvement in frame rates it will be an XP only sim for me.

tweaked and altered setting a bit more. used the ensbseries (?) file and it has doubled the frame rate in most areas. getting around 17 off the deck and between 11 up to 20+ over most targets. Hanoi still brings the FPS down to single figures though. Massive improvement on the carrier though,

I'll persevere with the sim on Win 7.

Unrelated but but just flew the Gunfighters mission and none of the F4s were carrying weapons as a default? is there a default setting I'm missing somewhere or do I need to arm each individual aircraft? I don't think I can do that in the game interface?

In that mission, yes. The Thuds are fully armed as are the Migs..or at least the ones that were firing at me were....
