Janes F-15 Pseudo Co-op?

Janes F-15 Pseudo Co-op? - 03/12/19 01:11 PM

As we know, Janes F-15 offered only PVP multiplayer. I seem to recall back in the day there was a hack of some kind to allow carrying A2G ordnance in multiplayer to at least simulate Co-Op play/A2G training.

Recently, Eugene and i connected in MP (quite seamless and easy connections to this day!) to do some training in AG Radar utilization. Would have been nice to actually employ some ordnance as well. Am I totally mis-remembering that this was possible???

In the Manual, it is mentioned that there is a CUSTOM ARMING option that the HOST can set, but in the game, there is no such option, only various Air to Air loadouts.

I could see the specialized Multiplayer map in the Resource folder, but it is SPECIAL in that it has multiple PLAYABLE aircraft, which the stock Mission Builder cannot support, so I could not edit loadouts nor drop in another map that would allow multiple Playable aircraft in MP.

Anyone remember?

Thanks!

Hi Recluse, (sorry for posting this off topic here. I tried to PM you, but the forum says you've reached your PM limit)

I have been viewing the forum Posts about Comanche Gold windows 7 fixes and the CGoldIP joiner.I have downloaded and install all such files. However, I can't get two computers to join by use CGoldIP or ipxwrapper. The latest posts/ news is from 2012. So I just wanted to know if you gentlemen are still playing Comanche Gold Multiplayer and if so, maybe you could give me some tips on what I might be doing wrong in setting up the joiner tool CGoldIP.

Thank you,

Hi,

Thanks for the headsup on my PM overload! I didn't notice that and I cleared out some space.

Aside from a quick test many years ago, I haven't flown Commanche Gold in either single or multi since that time.

While trying to get some other old sims working in MP, I did note that Microsoft REMOVED IPX support from Windows versions after XP, though, I guess there is a way to retro-fit it. I don't recall if the CGOLDIP joiner uses ipx or TCP/IP, but if using IPX (since there is an IPXWRAPPER, I suspect that is the problem.)..but I do not know for sure.

The creator of the CGOLDIP joiner may still be around...

EDIT: I re-read some of the old Comanche Gold posts and it looks like the CGOLD IP was working over TCP/IP, so I am not sure why it wouldn't work.. I assume you have tried opening all the specified ports? I don't recall if Flyboy was running Win 7 x32 or x64 which might have some bearing?

Further off topic:

At around the same time, we flew some Longbow2 through Hamachi. Interesting, at the time, Flyboy reported that on his Win7, using rudder pedals for anti-torque (tail) rotor rotations in a hover was extremely slow. I recently got LB2 running on Win7 and pedal turns were as fast as I recalled on XP... Not sure why..

For the MP aspects, LB2 will not let you host through a ROUTER, so a VPN is needed. As Hamachi is pretty much dead, Tunngle is gone, LB2 is not supported on GAME RANGER, I was searching for a free Gaming VPN solution. I decided to try WIPPIEN.. and got it installed and configured but haven't tested yet with LB2...

Thank you sir, Sorry for going off topic. I'll keep trying to get CGOLDIP to network properly. I've come all this way to get Comanche Gold to work ,just to be stopped by multiplayer connection issues.

A program I remember was called Loadmaster. I can only find it in the web archives now, but give it a try.
