Tao Folding Map (2.4.1 Arma 3) - 02/18/13 04:38 AM

Tao Folding Map will allow you to toggle a usefully-large map anytime in game by pressing Shift-M (or Shift-<your map key>). It will automatically close when you open the big map or open your gear. Of course it does not restrict your movement or anything.



REQUIRES CBA for ARMA 3 (@CBA_A3)

I've wanted something like this for awhile now. Always wondered why BIS had this outdated "GPS only for vehicles" idea.

Glad everyone likes it. Literally like 50% of the dev time was put into making it scroll up and down nicely, 40% into making it scale to different maps, then 10% into the actual concept. I honestly don't understand why no one has made this, but I thought it was time.

Updated version 1.1 now available in the top post. Fixes an annoying little bug likely to crop up if you used in an aircraft.

- Resolve issue where if foldmap was open, then closed, then player passed over the edge of the map, then the foldmap was reopened, there would be extreme flickering until the map was manually recentered.

I love using this in our MSO setup. It makes working with "Indig" forces so much easier when you can see where all your team mates are since we split up to provide "assistance" to the other guys in those Indig force patrols.

I have had a few people I have turned on to this addon tell me that they have been kicked from servers for having this and using it. Also I was able to get it to work the other night in my single player and in the MSO server we are playing on but now I can't get it to work at all online. It still works in singleplayer mode.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Probably they are connecting to servers that require signed addons, or that restrict loaded addons to the server's addons for fairness. (This does provide, after all, an advantage to the user.) It also isn't signed (because I've never looked into doing that).

Basically it won't work on servers where the admin doesn't allow you to load your own addons. The SimHQ server lets you load whatever because we can just police any absurdity internally, plus our co-op gameplay style means that cheating is completely pointless.

There's no network-related code at all so whatever is preventing it from loading is a discussion between your client and the server.

Could someone post what their target line looks like with this installed please.I have tried but must be missing a comma or a space somewhere and cant't seem to get it to work.

I am a real newbie on this and can't find the way how to install this mod correctly.
I unpack the zip and drop the folder "@tao_foldmap_a3" into my ArmA3 directory.
When I start the game I can select an Expansion and have to restart.
When game is loading it gives an error-message that an Addon "CBA_XEH" is needed and the map doesn't work,
So what am I missing?

I take it I need CBA for this to work?
In your target line you don't have the map mod included,do I add this to the target line after the @cba?

Edit: OK this is what my target line looks like,

"C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Arma 3\arma3.exe" -mod=@cba;@sthud;@foldmap
On start I see the coloured CBA at the bottom but sthud and fold map don't show up.Any ideas chaps?

Hi man,
I put the cba_a3 into my A3 folder and it is showing up in game,sort of 3 different coloured cba writing,I just renamed the folder to make it simpler.Still not getting the others to show.
I'm sure re-naming the folder doesn't matter but to make sure I will try again,

You need CBA_A3. Just drop the @CBA_A3 and @tao_foldmap_a3 folders in the same directory as arma3.exe.

Then, launch Arma 3, go to Options, Expansions, and click on each and enable.

Alternately, add -mod=@CBA_A3;@tao_foldmap_a3 to your Launch Options (right click, Properties in Steam).

Everyone is used to using the -mod line, but it's really unnecessary these days. It's much easier to just click stuff on and off in the Expansions menu.

I thought you had to do both. So, no command line required if enabled in expansions menu?

I have just released 2.3, incorporating all changes from the unreleased 2.2 version as well as the features added by 1212PDMCDMPPM (thanks very much to him for his work!!)

New features:
- Tablet art
- Toggleable night mode (Shift-Ctrl-Nightvision)
- Zoom in/out (thanks 1212PDMCDMPPM and I made it work with folding and some other stuff) (Shift-Ctrl-Zoom in/out)
- Appropriate zoom levels for Altis and A3MP maps (thanks 1212PDMCDMPPM!)
- Fixed the edge transition flicker thing FOREVER.

It should work with any display, but I have no idea. As the long-standing TMR optics bug shows, I have only one screen to test on.

- Resolve some missing semi-colons in config.cpp.

On your newest version 2.4.1; I'm getting the following error - 'Include file userconfig\tao_foldmap_a3\tao_fold_map_a3.hpp not found'. I'm putting it in the folders the same way I did previous versions and have tried running it via ArmaA3Sync and by individually enabling it in the Arma3 expansions. I've also tried moving the .hpp file up into the main folder as well. My 2.3 version works just fine.

Any possibility of adding a drag/drop ability to the map's location?

You need to copy the UserConfig file from the downloaded zip to your Arma 3 directory in order to get the config file in place. It should be at Arma 3\UserConfig\tao_foldmap_a3\tao_foldmap_a3.hpp

Not sure what you mean by drag/drop?

The drag/drop - any option to unlock the map's position and allow player to drag it around the screen and then relock it to its new position?
