I thought this was going to be a tank sim like their Steel Armor game but it is another of their strategy games.

Correct. It the next installment of their "Tactics" series. I'm unsure of the reasoning behind the name change but regardless it is a fantastic game in its own right.

I don't have MUIR yet, which is better?

Wish they would do another tank sim so I can be Rommel.

Always wanted to try this but really can't "feel the love" from watching the videos. Comapre this to the SD:Normandy game where I liked it right as I watched GunDoc's video...

Flee battle is your friend.....

And first turns as US are brutal along this axis. You get hit with a heavy tiger battalion 501. If you go with the historical moves your hosed just like what happened. If you apply actual strategies of what you do when you are getting hit with a superior force you can win the campaign. Hint, shrink your lines and dig in on defensible areas on the OP map. Any where you see lots of hill elevations on the map is generally good. Any where without is flat and bad to defend against massed tanks that out number you.

Also this part of map is kind of boring to look at.

I STRONGLY recommend playing German campaign 1st. US campaign takes a good grasp of game features and really good tactics.

BTW the game is pretty great. while some spots on the map are boring and flat, most is anything but. Rolling desert, mountains, a few towns. If you know how to operate in a rolling desert vary rewarding. German where known to exploit these areas vary well. Dashing from one low area to another and setting up hull down on reverse slopes or setting anti tank guns with murderous kill zones. You can also infiltrate with infantry quite well following the lows spots and elevation differences to get infantry really close to enemy without getting seen and spammed with arty.

I started the German campaign lastnight and still got waxed! I had two Tigers and two Pz III's, a hand full of PnzGrens. I was hull down with my Tigers and PzIIIs up against 4 Shermans + Inf and still got wrecked in a prolonged 10 min tank duel (which was cool to watch!) Range was less than 1000m (closer to maybe 4-600) and it just seemed like my Tigers couldn't pen the Shermans (even after repeated hits). I know there is a pretty sophisticated armor pen system that the game uses so I need to dig deeper into the game. I am more than certain that I am missing something else as I know I had the better positioning on the AI. Hull down with Tigers vs Shermans on the Crossroads and yet the Shermans won? Regardless of the outcome I am still very much enjoying the game. It has a lot of depth to its gameplay and it will just take time to get used to all the games nuances.
