Nice pics. What's the latest version of X-plane now? I have a copy I was going to sell but your all's pics make me want to try it again.
Scoobe, have you an external view of pic 2? LOL what's the story behind that one?
Thanks for all the comments!
The latest version now, is 10.40 Its still a release candidate but should become final in a week or two.
Pic #2 was an emergency landing on the Long Island Expressway. I did not open the cowl flaps and engine lost power and quit on me. That was in the Carenado Cessna 182T
Keep in mind, I have a lot of add-ons and tweaks installed in X-plane. Don't expect it to look like this out of the box, However, most of what I'm using is freeware except for the planes. Some of it is recycled FSX scenery too. If your used to FSX, (As I was), there is a rather long learning curve when trying X-plane. Not much works the same way, so patients are needed. If you don't have patients or like learning a new program, It will just be a source of frustration.
Have not done much with X-Plane for some time. Not since having to help my wife recover from a stroke. But have been an avid X-Plane user since 1999 with X-Plane 5.52 bought for $99.99 back in the day. Have thousands of screenshots and videos made over the years. Kinda gave up with work and home taking more and more time.
I just got into X-Plane and really enjoy it for the great little details such as the night lighting and hdr lighting effects. I really think this is the golden age for X-Plane like FS9 was the golden age for Microsoft sim as X-Plane is still under developement and appears to have a great future.

Yes it is, and Jack is planning on a huge update for it soon.
Here are some shots of the Vflytair Cirrus SR20 for X-plane. I painted this one in the same paint scheme of my brothers SR-20. A very cool plane. both in real life and in this sim!
I think I'm gonna break this one out again over the winter. Dump $150 or so into quality add-ons and Just take a weekend and really get her setup right. It's clear from this thread that it pays of in spades; It looks like folks are finally getting the lighting close to the 'crisp' look FSK has, and the scenery looks as good, if not better. Plus, XPX has always 'felt' better in the FM dept, especially with Helis (which I'm taking more and more of a shine too).
Beautiful model and the detail for all the old mechanical bits is great. Old enough that you can turn off all the electronics and hydraulics and it'll fly fine with the mechanically linked controls. Love that they modeled the little tabs that "fly" the elevators and ailerons into place.
I just found out another reason I like X-Plane, I have the download version and saved the whole thing with my setups, planes and scenery to a usb drive...
Windows crashed so I re-installed it and of all the programs X-Plane was the easy one to put back. It is just a folder with no ties to your user files or registry and so just pop the folder back in and your good to go. Along with this is the easy install of planes and scenery. Again, just a folder you pop into your X-Plane folder and that is it, all done.
Scoobe, Is that the Drzewiecki New York scenery, or your "home brew" FSX port? Do you use any scenery or weather enhancements? I'm thinking about getting SkyMaxx Pro v3 myself...
Its Drzewiecki's NY. I finally retired my Aerosoft conversion, since their version looked better and ran better too. I use Skymax 3.0 but I usually only use it for GA flying. When flying high altitude airliners, I use the default clouds with Tom Knudsen's Clouds 2015. http://forums.x-plane.org/index.php?app=downloads&showfile=29554
They really enhance the default clouds nicely and gives it a great sense of flying through them, that screenshots can not convey.
Great shots as usual and great collection of Carenado planes. I have their B200 and although the fps are a bit low it flies and looks just fine.
I bought the B200 when it came out, but for some reason skipped over the C90. I recently picked up the C90 I'm really enjoying it even more than the B200. Landing it correctly, took me some practice. It has a different feel than the B200. I've heard people complain about the C90 being a VRAM hog, but I haven't noticed this. The FPS on it are about the same as on all my other Carenado planes, which is to say very good.
I am using MaxxFX, and Skymaxxpro 3. I don't use any Nvidia settings, I leave that all to default.
My X-plane rendering settings are in the screen shot below.
My Skymaxx pro settings are here:

As for the flicking you are getting, Make sure you don't have any other NYC scenery installed other than DD NYC. Make sure your DD NYC scenery is towards the top of the list in your scenerypacks.ini folder. If not, cut and paste it to the top of the list.
As for the Carenado Caravan, mine is working good. Make sure you have the latest version. should be 3.2 now. If not, re-download it again from where you bought it. Do the views work on any other Carenado planes you have?
Picked up the flight factor 767, bit unusual for me as I tend to fly short/GA, but figured a I'd give it a shot. Did my longest flight I've done in a sim yet, Chicago to Amsterdam (time accelerated, with random failures on to make the long Atlantic section a bit more tense).
Great shots,,,everytime you post pics of xplanes planes it makes want to buy them. I have not been flying xplane much but have been making scenery for it. My project is small airfields of Iowa and xplane helps make that possible with great scenery editing softwared and sketchbook also lends a hand.
Put up a very short video of the scenery I am working on. I have been to the Antique Airfield long ago and thought I wanted to fly to it in X-Plane so here is the progress so far.
Thanks to the Antique Airplane Association's great web site for all the pictures that helped with the structures, signs and other unique items at this field. All buildings had to be modeled as well as signs and assorted objects.
Work in progress and yes I know the orange windsock pole is sticking through hangar number one's lower roof
The biggest problem is finding vintage static aircraft to populate the field - anyone know of any post please.
Sweet, I see you have found some of Clipwings planes. A. Lynn Lockrow. He has been making classics since version 6x. He actually goes to Blakesburg. Known him for years. Would like to make it down there some time and film the action in 4k.
Thanks I would love to get in touch with Clipwing because I have modifed his Monocoupes and painted about 8 so far. I am getting ready to do a video of 10 or so Monocoupes taking off from the Antique Airfield so had to paint and name new versions to work with X-Plane 10. I also made some of them long wings to mix it up a bit.
A little airport in Long island NY called Spadaro. Tough to get in and out of. lots of trees and mostly dirt and grass. I flew into this airport for real once back in the late 80's and its a scary ride. Cliff Robertson kept one of his planes here way back. I think it was a Baron.
This is the Carenado C210 with Reality Expansion Pack. (similar to accusim) The combo, makes this one of my favorite GA planes for X-plane.
Looks nice! I haven't purchased it yet. I will eventually, but I haven't really learned the rotatesim MD80 yet and I'm forcing myself to master that first before delving into a new plane. Too many planes in my virtual hanger, that I haven't touched in a while.
Night lighting is very good but I gave up on X-Plane when I thought I was getting all new 3D cockpits with the last version I bought due to the box art misleading me and all I actually got was one plane with a nice new 3D cockpit and all the rest of the planes were exactly the same as before. Then it took 6 hours to install the complete world from disk to the HDD.
Microsoft Flightsim is still being developed but is now taken over by Dovetail Games.

Not entirely true. Microsoft Flight Simulator is dead. That won't see further development. Dovetail released the Steam specific version and that's the end of the line. They bought the license to develop their own ESP-based title, just as Lockheed Martin is doing with P3D.
I'll ask my question in here as the one I popped into the civilian section didn't get any replies.
How does X-Plane handle military stuff? I saw that there is a Tornado coming up and wondered what I could actually do with it?
Thanks guys.
Military planes can fire missiles and shoot guns, but that is about it. You can`t shoot down other planes as far as know. Bombs do make pretty good explosions. Have not even tried in 10x. but did it from 7 to 9.
