To allow people to provide a reference of the various aircraft being developed for CFS3 and provide
links to the relevant sites and the aircraft files (when they're released). There are so many
different projects being worked on that it's hard to keep track of them. A site with a list and links
would be very handy.
Is anyone working on a site like this, or planning to? If not then I could try creating a basic text-based
site, once I've got the appropriate links and references. However I don't have much webspace (only 20MB, about
10MB used already) so won't be able to host files other than small effects/FM mods etc.

Incidentally are there any other freeware CFS3 planes either out or at a beta stage? I know about the Grumman
F9F, and also a P-47D30 (not sure what the differences are between this and the D25, apart from the paint scheme). There's a Spit + Hurricane MkI and a Bf109E but these are payware.
Apart from avhistory.com what are the main sites relating to CFS3 addons and aircraft?

Very nice idea, also prevents a huge number of the same aircraft addons. Let people 'sign in' on a particular type, that way the overlap between modders/modellers is minimal. This will lead to more types of aircraft being modelled, so we can also enjoy for example Italian WW2 aircraft, instead of having a mass of Mustangs and Spitfires, which will all be basically the same.

This idea had been floated on some of the more active CFS3 sites already and was not all that well received by the 3rd party developers.

There is a "who's working on what thread" at netwings in the development section but that's about all the guys are willing to commit too and even there I know a large number of planes in progress are not listed.

Except for the Payware guys the bulk of the 3rd party do a plane purely because the like the plane they are working on.

The thing y'all need to understand it can take many months to put a single plane together and the guys will not spend that kind of time on a plane they are not personally interested in.

Its a hobby that is done for the developers enjoyment first and to share with the community second.

I was intending the site simply to be a reference/directory for players of CFS3 to see what add-on planes are (or will eventually be) available.
Not literally a CFS3 version of IL2 Centre, which acts as a "headquarters" in coordinating and organising development. It would simply have a list of aircraft types and links to the relevant sites/files. No input from developers at all would be needed, the site designer would simply put up the relevant info and links when a plane is released.

but it would still be a good idea for somewhere to provide links to these peoples pages, even if it only links to projects which are complete rather than 'in progress'. with MS other big sim there are 2 main sites and you can find pretty much everything there is between them. CFS seems a little more divided up currently. maybe that's just because it's still early days.

Drawde,

No problem, I must have misunderstood the threads header

Anyway this is the best list of 'public' info so far.

http://www.netwings.org/dcforum/DCForumID12/729.html

As I said there are a number of projects that the guys have not yet made public so they will not be on the list.

Here's a few example pages:
Standard aircraft - B-25 http://www.edwardpinniger.bctalk.net/cfs3/us/b25c.html
P-47 http://www.edwardpinniger.bctalk.net/cfs3/us/p47d.html
Spitfire IX http://www.edwardpinniger.bctalk.net/cfs3/uk/spitIX.html
Third-party aircraft - F9F http://www.edwardpinniger.bctalk.net/cfs3/us/f9f.html
He162 http://www.edwardpinniger.bctalk.net/cfs3/ger/he162.html

I haven't got them uploaded yet but there will eventually be B+W and/or colour photos
of the real aircraft on each page. I'll also add info on the variants and sub-variants
that aren't in the game or under construction; e.g the B-25 A and B.
