It is incredibly difficult now. I found it impossible to evade the Destroyers once they had a fix on you. Evidently you have to reduce speed to 1kt with silent running before they can't hear you. The problem is that you need to do at least 3 kts to maintain depth. Any less and you sink (thus requiring a spurt of speed to get back to a safe depth (which they can hear). I am sure it is more realistic, but I ended up reverting to version 1.03 which, for a newbie like me, is much more enjoyable.

I found that 1 knot kept me from sinking 2 knots to change depth. I would go to flank when Depth Charges were in the water changing depth and course it took me some time to shake them but can be done, keep a cool head but sometimes its luck of the draw as it would be lol. I didn't go silent running by the way as I was trying to load torpedoes. I'm not knocking you for what you do as it is best to play as what you enjoy. I can only say good hunting. \:\)

hmm 1 kt and I was sinking at a rate of about 10m per minute. I'm a new player (usually a dedicated flight sim guy) so I am sure it is my failing and bad tactics rather than a problem with the mod. As you say though, individual tastes vary and for me, 1.03 is challenging enough \:\) .

The speed depends on which type of U-boat you are using. The type IX takes more speed to maintain depth I have read.
