I got SH3 going here today and went at the Navigation Tutorial... The first run was 'in the day', and that was fine. I finally figured out how to read my message traffic!

The next couple runs were 'in late afternoon', 1700...

The question is, WHAT is/was that large bright white object... when using the F4 view on the surface? Is it supposed to be there ? The moon or something ???

I remember reading about this when the game came out.I think its a bug with some card or specific drivers.
I suppose you have the patch installed?
If you do a little surch you should find some post about that problem.
Good luck

I chased down the 1.4b patch... installed it... the Game looks good, but then, it did, in Game-Time Day, before. Guess I'll just run it and hope. Interesting that the 1.4b patch makes the game '1.3' ...

That's just a error in the documentation of the patch. Look in the lower right corner of the main screen and it will say 1.4b.

507,

I am new to this as well and was wondering, what do you mean 'I finally figured out how to read my message traffic!'

How do you do that? I think I must be missing something.

The 'messages' you get 'on the radio'... The 'M' key. Messages received [or sent] via radio are called 'message traffic'...

507, you're selling SH3 already? Not your cup of tea?

It's great, really. The graphics and Game-Play are super... The heck of it is... and I hate to admit it... but it is true... I remember Pearl Harbor, and all that followed... and some of what preceded... and I just... can't... 'get into' the German U-Boat 'thing'. I grant you Das Bot is one of my very favorite 'taped from TV' movies, but when I'm in SH3, and see those 'other' flags on the ships... difficult to 'play', I'm sorry to say. And that's the truth. So... if I find someone not thusly bothered, it will be a $20 game in better hands. [Likewise, as much as I admire the Messer' BF-109, in WW2F, I just can't fly it... nuts, I guess ]

I think sh3 is neat in that you get to learn a little about the naval aspect of the war. I knew next to nothing about navy combat before this game. I thought navy stuff was really boring before, it's still very slow pace to me but I understand it better now because of sh3. Even though we play the evil side it was still cool cuz I never knew why britain was so scared of the uboat.

No doubt about it, SH3 seems to do a great job of placing you in Der Kapitan's job. And Ubisoft did a wonderful graphics set. Unfortunately, I know one Merchie that took TWO swims, and I had a neighbor whose husband was in the Eight Air Force..never came back.

But that is reality! If you don't have my hang-overs...enjoy the HECK out of this super video game !!!
