I have changed the pilot voices in the game to make them sound more like radio transmissions, if anyone wants it you can download it from my web site here http://www.ctsprods.f9.co.uk Sorry for the poor state of my web page, but I only made it this morning. go to the sound files page and you can't miss it, its the only file I have

Great Soupdragon! I'm heading to your site now.

Btw, I just finished a new gun mod for BOB by modifying gun sounds from WWII Fighters. Essentially, I created 4 sounds from two, and they all sound completly different than the WWII fighter sounds. I also culled fly-bys for the Spit/Hurri and 109 from that game for use in BOB, and they sound amazing.

Can I upload these sounds to your site?

Super old man. I'm working really hard at them moment so I've taken this for a spin.

Seems that my voice is muffled (good effect!) but my squadron's arent. isnt this the wrong way round? You should be able to hear your own commands clearly, but not everyone else's talking

?

Hey Bader, I havn't had much of a chance to really test them yet, but hopefully with more people downloading them they can tell me of any problems they encounter. I think I see what you are getting at, you're saying that the commands that YOU issue should not be muffled, but the responces you get back should, is that right?

I'm not sure if this is the solution, but there are several folders containing the same voice files. Which folder you put Soup's files in would depend on what you hear.

I'm not at my gaming computer now so I won't be able to test them until tonight. I know there's a player folder and a plyext folder among others. Try switching folders maybe?

BTW, very nostalgic seeing the Soupdragon in all his glory. Not enough of the Clanger's charm in the world any more.

Now we have teletubbies. Pah! Even my nearly-three old doesnt like them any more. Sensible boy.

Or have I got those rose tinted spectacles on and were the clangers in truth pretty awful? Nah, everything was good in the '70s. (well except music and clothes)

I am of the Magic roundabout generation, and I'll probably never get over it.

I think the soupdragon may have got it right already...

If you are wearing a facemask (oxygen mask) and ear phones...then the sound of your own voice would sound 'muffled'...but...since you hear your wingmans voice through your ear phones (even though he too is speaking through his facemask) then his voice would sound much clearer.

Er, yes but you dont actually hear your own voice only through your earpieces. You get it through your skull too. Not quite sure how that will affect things, but it surely will.

And the other guys are wearing masks too, so they should be muffled..

If they were BOTH muffled, then it would make sense I think.

Thanks Bader

I did not realise that you heard your own voice through your own ear piece as you gave instructions.

OK, I am now editing all the wingman calls in the game I have made these slightly louder and rougher than the others as they would be coming straight into your ears via the R/T system. So far they sound great I will post them to my web site sometime over the weekend for you to download. the file will be about the same size as the one already there.

Rattler although the file names are the same for most of the files the content is different.

I have now finished the next mod which was to change the squadron replies to sound more like radio commands, I will be doing some testing on this today and will post it to my web site tommorrow. My initial feeling is that they sound OK. But please let me know if you think they need changing and I will see what I can do. this file is slightly larger than the last coming in at 8.36Mb.

Hello Soupdragon
First of all I want to thank you for taking time to make the sound files. I downloaded them yesterday and installed them last night. I must admit though that I can’t hear the big difference between the old and the new one, but then again, my soundcard and loudspeakers are exactly state of the art.
I’m not sure if you are the person to write to about suggestions to sound files, but here goes anyway.
I know that during the BoB it was often the case that the British pilots picked up German radio chatter when they were on patrol. I would be a great touch of reality if this was possible, say on the way to intercept or on convoy patrol or whenever.
Another thing is when it comes to the poor bastards that gets shot down. I read a book where a pilot described such a scene. The guy that had been shot down was trapped in his plane, and in panic he held his transmitter button pressed all the way to the ground where his screams where abruptly cut off. I realise of course that you can’t have a thing like this every time a plane goes down, but once in a while.... Others were completely calm and said a nice good bye, while others again was cut off in the middle of a transmission. I mean the possibilities are many.
Anyway.. Keep up the good work... you are one of the guys that keeps the sim worth playing.
Regards
Finn (Denmark)
