I've located and downloaded the Gunsight utility from WOV site. In the readme it says that it'll owrk only if the sim is installed in the default directory.

Unfortunately my RB3D installation is not the default directory (c:\sierra\redbaron3d). Would it work if I create a directory with the path as above, then cut & paste into the actual directory?

IIRC the gunsight is a simple text file which the game uses to draw the sights in the F1 view.

And are there any other gunsights/gunsight utilities?

If you are just after a simple sight why not use the one in the game? Read the RBSIGHT text doc in your RB folder to get it set up! ;\)

I'm aware of the sight \:\) - I used to play this sim but stopped about a couple of years ago. But I got the urge to play it again, found & dusted off the CD, but lost all the documents - the manual & the keycard. No biggie, since I've grabbed a pdf version off the Hell's Angels & WOV sites.
I'm rather attached to the sights provided in the utility, and I used it back then.
Anyway I'll experiment. It should work as iirc all it does is create a simple txt file. So a dummy directory should work, since the programme will probably just look for the folder to write the file in.

It's a good idea to maintain a "RedBaron3D" stock install for such purposes if a patch installer doesn't offer a "browse to" bar. You can always copy a patch to another install.

Well, it doesn't work. I created a c:/sierra/redbaron3d folder & tried the gunsight utlity. Got a path mismatch error. \:\(

Update:
Actually, I was a dummy. If I had the path c:/sierra/redbaron3d/data then the file installs correctly.
D'oh!
