A Western Front Patch Mission

Bored with late-war Flanders, I got to thinking about Verdun last night, and decided to do a campaign around it.

I'm interested to hear the positive responses on the new glide wrapper. I really need to keep up on this stuff.

Well, I don't personally know, but AA_Trouble4u said he got over 50 fps in MMP with stock RB3, (with a hot new PC). OpenGLide is terrible in MMP. So dgVoodoo could resuscitate RB MMP if word gets around.

Thanks, PipsPriller, it's quite all right. Being a son of the Confederacy, I feel at home with a Lost Cause. It's twisted, I know... \:\)

I can mail it to you if you can't download it. I don't think Dege has much bandwidth.

I was able to try out the new glide wrapper. The wires aren't showing up properly but I think fiddling with the settings will help since it is probably an alpha texturing issue.

On the plus side, I am finding this wrapper to be really smooth. Glare is no longer a frame rate hit problem (yay!). In fact, the FPS goes up when blinded. The exit screen menu no longer causes the sim to go into a major stutter mode either. The gun flares look nice too.

So far, I have not seen any zebra or black tiling or explosions looking blocky but I'll have to play with it a bit more to be sure. After modifying the hex file in the rbprefs, I am finding I get about 45 fps on average at 1600 by 1200 resolution.

This wrapper is a great improvement for me over the openglide wrapper from the Glidos developers.

Running 512 ram, an Athlon 1.8 gig and a Geforce TI 4400. Those with faster computers will probably fare better.

I am glad to see the developer of this wrapper is keen on aiding the Red Baron crowd in making it work well. So far, I have found it to be the best and it is heartening that it is being worked on right now.

With the new HA patch and the Resurrection add-on I'm having fun with RB again without the stutters. \:\)

I've been holding off on FCJ until a decent wrapper that worked well on my system came about. I am curious if anyone has any results from using FCJ.

Polovski, who started the above-mentioned thread on this at the SWWISA forum, is using it with FCJ, as is Kess's partner, Cap'n Darwin. It was Polovski who caught wind of this wrapper, and asked Dege to make it RB-friendly. Dege added Alpha Colorkeying to the Glide tab specifically to solve the problem with the wires, do you have that selected?

I'm sure Polovski would appreciate it if you would also post this feedback on the SWWISA thread. Thanks! \:\)

I was just about to post that enabling alpha selected did the trick.

I tried adjusting some of the other settings but that caused problems with the galre, menu, etc.

Going back to default and just enabling that seemed to make it work fine.

Awesome wrapper and I'll register so I can post thanks on SWWISA.
