Hi folks,

I have a new AMD2500/1gbRAM/AbitNFS-7/GF4Ti4200 128mb AGP system up and running now.

I have RB3d installed, using the GLIDOS wrapper along with the last Promised Land UOP patch. Things are generally ok except for the following.

I'm seeing frequent times where the AI a/c are zooming by in light speed for a few seconds, then they calm down into regular speed fine. Almost like a temporary time accel. is being kicked in, then cleared. Anyone else seeing this? Any remedy for it?

Also the SE5a guns seem wrong. When I run out of ammo in the lewis gun (and have the time delay for the changing of the magazine) it seems although the gun flash for the vickers is evident, I still see the tracers coming from the lewis. Very strange.

Any help with these matters is much appreciated.

THanks!

Salute!
Never heard of that "lightspeed" problem - not a fast machine problem. RB3D needs all the RAM it can get.
Are you using any other UOP with PL like WFP,HA or FCJ? It would be there that the gun flashes need to be addressed as the specific aircraft model,FM and DM are dependant on who's plane patch you have.

Thanks for the reply Skiddmark.

Perhaps "lightspeed" was a bit exaggerated. The planes fly at times more like "Spitfire" speed I suppose, but definetly change into normal speed after a couple seconds.

I'm only using the Promised Land UOP, no other patches. Perhaps I'll just re-install the lot and see if I still have the situation.

BTW, It's the Sold-Out version of RB3d, and I'm using Windows ME.

I also have the original RBII. I could try that, with the 3d superpatch and see if I get the same anomolies.

Thanks again,
notam

Hi notam,
Yea I never heard of that one either. Sorry, wish I could help. That rb2 super patch idea sounds good. Let us know.

I seem to recall reading that the SE5a gun reload being a bit weird is a known game issue...like although one would expect the Lewis to be silent and the Vickers still fire during Lewis "drum reloads" the game designers got it backwards or something like that. I haven't flown the Se5a that much and not lately.

Use the frame rate counter and check what the frame rates are doing when you notice the other problem if it occurs in single play. They may be getting low and then jumping suddenly.

If it's in MMP, then it may be lag you are experiencing. That definitely makes planes "warp" suddenly, although there is usually a noticeable slow down prior. Hope this helps. Keep at either way, 'cause it's a great game

Both my brother (Bad0gre) and I had this problem with our high end rigs.
We both mainly play MMP but like to train in the Solo Fly Now setting.
The 'solution' was to install the game with ForceFeedback at the beginning.
The problem is that it is better to disable FF to improve frames and to improve gunnery. With FF it shakes around too much. Frames improve by half again with it disabled.
So if you fly solo exclusively, install with FF. If you want to go on MMP, make another install without.
If you don't have a FF joystick, the next best option is to max out all settings, and turn on prop and sun effects.
Hope this is of some help.

The "Sold out software" version has definate problems,it is much better to install RB II and then patch it to RB3D and MMP.
After you install RB II,re-name it,this way,you can make more installs easily.
Check out this great patch info:
http://www.gemmrig.de/www.wingsofhonor.c...hprimer_hawkman
I can't believe you are flying stock aircraft - get Ren's All Planes replacement patch(in my sig),Hell's Angels)in my sig),WFP,FCJ or something. I recommend HA as it is easy, complete, works with PL is and free.
Use separate installs and get 'em all and use a separate install for MMP although HA does have a patch to make it MMP compatible.
Of course, you're using the GLIDE wrapper, this will slow things down a bit.
A suggested install order:
RB II
Superpatch
1.0.7.7. / 1.0.7.8. patch for MMP
GLIDE wrapper
Campaign Manager
Terrain patch
Plane patch
AI Slider
Run a few missions with each change to make sure it's working OK.
You can get all this stuff at the HA site.

Hey folks!

Thanks for all the posts gents. I'll keep at it.

Skid, I'll look into your sig-links also. The Promised Land UOP comes with updated 3d models for the stock set of a/c so I've been quite happy with that 'till now. Nice rigging and historic skins and terrain.

I'll probably go for the FCJ sooner or later also.

This sim is still great. Many things have yet to be equaled in terms of the campaign and such. I'm flying a 56RFC campaign now. Got forced down behind enemy lines and had to make the decision of "re-fly" or end mission. Thought what the heck, hit end mission. Was captured BUT escaped a few weeks later!!!! What a hoot!

Cheers all
