Everyone knows of Rickenbacker, Luke, Elliott Springs, Raoul Lufbery and the hero's of the Escadrille Lafayette. Books aplenty have been written about them all. And deservedly so.

But what about the Americans who flew with the RFC. Of the top ten aces for America six of them flew with the British. Lambert. Iaccaci, Gillett, Kuhlberg, Rose and Warman all scored 15 or more victories, but rarely will you see any mention of their names.

A sad thing. They deserve acknowledgement.

Bill Lambert whom u mentioned wrote his autobiography in 1973 called "Combat Report", it was published by William Kimber in the UK as was the majority of pilots autobiographies from ww1 & 2 between about 1955 and 1987 when they sadly ceased trading.

I recently got a copy of the American Aces of WW1 book as well as the Osprey SPAD7 Aces book. There were a LOT of little known but wonderful pilots. The one I found intriguing was Elliott White Springs. He looked like a great guy.

If you see a real Lafayette or other American pilot name on-line it may be me, incognito just for the heck of it. Robert Soubiran kicked some butt one evening a couple weeks ago, before my ISP started giving me fits.
