S! All,

I was wondering if there was anybody out there who'd have any info on finding a picture of a specific German flieger from Jasta 12. His name is Otto Klaiber, and before serving in Jasta 12, he was a 2-seater pilot in FA232. His observer was a man named Beck. He landed up ending the war as an ace of 6 confirmed kills, though I'm not sure whether he survived the war or not.
I've already checked out The Aerodrome: http://www.theaerodrome.com/ and a few other sites, but none seem to have a pic of him, only some real super basic information. The Aerodrome actually doesn't have really any info on him at all...
I also found some pics of Jasta 12 on another site, but they seem to have been taken when he was assigned elsewhere.
Anyway, I'm hoping to use the pic in my RB squadron (JG1), since I borrowed his name for my identification.
Thanks for any help!

Cool! Thanks! I'd really appreciate any help.

I've just about given up on finding anything, as I don't think that there are many records remaining that deal specifically with him. However, there may be more German-language records available that I'm not aware of. I'm not really that good at reading German (since I've primarily taught myself), so looking through German sites has been really hard for me. Most of the German WW1 mititary terms are right over my head... lol! So, progress has been slow...

S! von Seppel

Thanks for the help! I'm pretty sure that I won't be able to find any portrait shots of Klaiber. No one seems to have any (not even some major books about German aces- like Above the Lines & the Jasta Pilots, etc.). Personally I don't think any exist in common circulation. Maybe in private collections, but that's another ball of wax...

However, I've been thinking that he may be in a group shot somewhere made up of Jasta 12 fliers. Or, a FA232 group shot. That's what I've been hoping for. Unfortunately, nothing yet... If you know of any places on the net, or books to find photographs from either of these two units, let me know...

And thanks for the translation offer. I might be forced to take you up on that... Ich verstehe nicht alles... lol!

Hello Darkjedi,

I am very sorry, but I was not able to find a picture of Otto Klaiber.

Looked up all my WW1-sites and did some searches too. No result.

Sorry for not being able to help you. If I ran into one pic of him by chance, I will let you know.

Tron, thanks for all your help!! I really appreciate it. I'm still going to keep looking, but I don't expect to find anything anytime soon. Personally, right now, i think my best bet is to look through old unit photos and hope to find him. But, even that is kind of like finding a needle in a haystack. Oh well, it was worth a shot... Thanks again!
