I mean, that HK was one of my original loves! I didn't know anything about the gold version till today. At anyrate, I was forced to sell the original HK because I came to the realization, when 3dfx started Fkg up, that I'll never own another 3dfx card. So, does it look as good, or better, under open GL? In addition, I always thought the GSC didn't model the fuel usage rates correctly. The F/C-18C has an A-A combat radius of 440 miles, or 220 miles one way & 220 miles back. However, whether it's a carrier launch or runway, the best I was ever able to do was less than 200 miles total, at what I felt was a good cruise at 300MPH@25,000'. On after burner, I can let it go about 1.5 minutes or less before bingo. IMO, that's not too accurate. Well, is the fuel usage better now? On the other hand, if it is accurate, the game begs for A-A refueling.

The F/A-18A/C has shorter legs than a dachsund in Real Life (TM), so that sounds about right. In RL (TM), there is plenty of tanker support for Hornet ops.

"Radius" is the gross distance you can fly to and return, in order to come close to achieving that "brocure" distance you'll need 3 drop tanks and an optimum climb-to-cruise to around 35,000 feet and from there at an economical throttle setting like 70-75%. Hornit would know the particulars but if that doesn't show major improvements then there is indeed something funny going on.
