Wow, Medusa. Nice pick. You certainly carry more ordinance then the fictional "Betty".

Ahhemmm. Scuse me. Couldn't resist.

Back to the original topic....

Some opponents are absolutely determined to shoot at you during a merge. It doesn't usually happen at the beginning of a game. People playing this old dinosaur of a game called WW2F are generally a sophisticated bunch. Initially, everyone is a gentleman. But once the game starts getting a little one-sided...

If my opponent heads straight towards me. If we are both at low alt. I generally use a manuever I call 'the corkscrew'. This is exactly as it sounds. Start with a lazy barrel roll at about 2 kilometers. As you approach, increase the roll rate. Keep an eye on the opponent's reactions and break off if possible. The best he will get is a snapshot. And if he is so determined as to go head on with you, then he will probably turn on you to try and get on your six after the merge. That's when you let your wingman take him out.

But wingman tactics are a whole different thread.

Raven, If you haven't flown WW2F since JCN, you should come to HL for a visit. The crowd is smaller but much more polite.

I had thought it lost for a long time only to find it on a whim of a chance- found it at an A-10 site, A friend of ours took this a while ago.
Here it is:

Raven... you are a very lucky man.

Amen brother.

I had a pic with her and the guy who actucallly took this pic. -I was already out of the service by this time- Anyways the pic was of both the wives sitting on the winggs just over the wheels. The caption in my locker was "New guns for the warthog"
Yes, both lady's are fully loaded as well

I'll reply to the corckscrew in the new ACM secretes revealed thread... this one's gotten out of hand.

I flew a coupplke time in the HL- but then things came about that had to stop for a while- I still fly some friends IP game every now and again. For the most part either me and her fly- or me and any one of the boys fly- My second son is determined he's going to be an Airforce pilot one day. He's off to a good start- in Falcon 4.0 he can land, and nav pretty good, gun fighting is diffucult but missiles he's good with. We fly in formation too, for 10 years old he does good.

Future fighter pilot in the making.

Raven, I found your posts very interesting, especially this comment: "I have to admit my love to the P-47 is deep, since I flew its"
Were you in the service early enough to fly the P-47? I have a great love for the P-47D and the P-51D, since I flew both of them in WW2. The tough old thunderbolt saved my but many times and brought me back to my base in England. The P-51D is probably the sweetest plane I flew in my 22 yrs Airforce, unless maybe the few hours I had in The F86E.
I do fly the P-47 and P-51 in Janes WW2F, so bring your 109 on over and we'll check them out. I fly in Janes as =353=MONROEQ, so I'm easy to find. Of course, I make it a rule to go 1v1 only with pilots in my age bracket. Anyway, nice to meet you and look forward to flying some together. We can, at least, run up to Aachen and shoot a few landings. >>>Monroe

Oh no I didn't fly the 47. Heh heh I was probably not even born when you retired...

I flew the A-10 Thunderbolt II. Glad to meet up with you- please feel free to let us in on any thing you have to offer from your practical experience- What unit were you with? My uncle flew in the war P-51's bomber escort '44-'45. He flew with the 91st bombers escorting those guys in from Bassingbourn. I can't for the life of me remeber his FG. I will have to call him for that info.

I'd consider it a previlage to be your 2, Sir. The men of that era were and are something extraordinary, I am amazed at what they faced with out hesitation and with honor. I have deep respect for the people of the entire generation- and have tried to pattern myself after that example. In a thousand years I believe the world will come to remeber that time as the beggining of world peace, thank you for your contribution to that effort.

Raven your post about tactics is great. That is the way I fly in HyperLobby with Janes WWII fighters. I do very good and have to defend myself quite often against people that say I have a modded plane. The thing is I fly all of them the same well just about the same that is. I have even had to tell guys some of my tactics and how I can turn so fast just so they can think about what they are saying and stop and learn. Most don't learn and don't seem to want to. Most of them rely on head ons to get kills.

Raven, I too have had to come in with many names just to get a flight. Kind of sad I think. One can only get better by flying and learning from the fight. I try to learn from every flight.

My very first ACM I learned was the Lead turn and I use it or veriations of it on every merge! Works great and some guys will even say "wow nice move" lol...

Spooky I have flewn you b4, you a killer in that 109 and I look forward to flying MONROEQ sometime. Everyone should get in HylerLobby and do some flying. There is nothing like pitting your skill agains a human pilot.

Bulldog60 out
