I just bought Janes WWII Fighters and when I try to run it I get a message that says the program has performed an illegal operation, or that the operation has been terminated due to limitations on the computer. What now? Thanks, Joe S

I dont know how to fix your problem. But if no one can help you here head on over to ww2f.dogfighter.com and post in there message board. They helped me get it up and running on my new computer after I upgraded.

Joe,

First you have to describe your system, then we can help. I do know that things as simple as less than the latest video driver can cause an error like that. Happened on a Voodoo3 3000 card; two machines, identical, one just had a version earlier driver. Installed the newer driver, fixed the problem.

in the Cockpit of whatever I a...
S!

have you installed the base version game and then applied the patches without any further hesitation?
thats WRONG!
you have to install the baseline version of the game, fire it up once, adjust everything to your liking in the tech-options inside the game, exit and then apply the patches!
that works great! and it is the ONLY way it will work!!!

hope this helps!

btw, I am running it on a TNT2 Ultra board with latest Detonator drivers and DX 8.0a

I haven't tried reinstalling WWII Fighters on my home computer yet but I tried it at work and it runs fine. However, I have a few questions. Can the keys and buttons be remapped? I havent been able to figure that out yet. The controller screen alludes to the possibility but I havent been able to do it yet. The other things that I find frustrating is that when I attempt to lower the nose by pushing the stick down, nothing happens. I have to do a half roll and pull back on the stick to make minor adjustment in the pitch. Pulling back on the stick in level flight works OK however. The last question relates to the visibility of aircraft. They are almost invisible unless I am withing 1000 yds. Can this be fixed by adjusting the various settings? Thanks everyone. Joe S

to remap the keys you can edit ww2keys.txt file which is located in ww2 fighters directory. as for the stick problem i think you can adjust the deadzone in ww2.ini file or make it more sensitive by increasing the stick sensitivit number. 1000 yards is a long distance, are you sure you aren't talking about 1000 feet? the only thing i can think off is "realsize" setting in ww2.ini is set to "yes" that makes everything very small and real. if you change it to no planes become bigger.

Thanks Ghost . The problem with seeing the planes is not so much the size as it is their appearance. They appear to be just a faint line of dark and bright spots even relatively close up. You have to get real close before the shape of the plane is discernable, not at all like what I am used to in EAW. Joe S
