Arrived back home from my camping trip this weekend to a USPS Priority Mail package. Hmm..some heft to it..nice..could it possibly be??!
YES!! The...Dangerous Waters package!! Opening up the box out slid a beautiful inch and a quarter thick, spiral-bound manual and quick install sheet and discs all shrink wrapped together.
Opening the manual..this is no "fluff" manual! Unlike other manuals that are 200 pages of "unit identification" graphics..this one is completely and totally full of program information and useful stuff! Just incredible..I can't wait to give her a test spin...
Ah..
Love the manual! Long live the manual!

Not just a great manual but a solid stable product. Very rare in this industry of sell it now fix it later, if there ever is a later. This has to be the first hardcore simulator or simulator period to come out in a long while that just does everything right. Broke the myth that people would not pay extra for a printed manual. Broke another myth that people dont like overly complicated simulations (Sucks for you Ubisoft and the geek references ) Quality simulation from end to end, top to bottom. It is soo good, I bought 2 deluxe versions. Its one of those instant classics, that you want a unopened, untouched virgin copy for the library Cant say enough about it, sim after sim has been a royal let down, until today. I am hoping this is a new trend in, get it right the first time and they will come hand over fist. In fact, if you have a birthday present to give out, give em this I plan to buy 6 more copies just to give away as Christmas presents this year. p

I am having a hell of a good time with this sub sim. The developers really did a great job with the small touches and such. Manual is superb. Today, I'm actually taking a copy of the pdf mission editor manual down to Kinkos in order to get it printed. Plan on spending a lot of time making some complex and realistic missions with the editor. Have any of you checked out that mission editor? Talk about power and potential! Yesterday, I was dinking around setting up training mission with the FFG. Do you know you can use the helicopters as spotters for the FFG main gun? What a blast! Thank you Sonalysts!

While initially I was a bit frustrated at the complexity and lack of intutive nature to the sim ... I'm slowly growing in love with it.
Learning curve is very high, but the rewards are too. Got the basics down in the subs and I'm now starting on the P3 ... while the subs are cool in their stealthy complexity the P3 is a kick A$$ ton of fun and I've barely scratched the surface.

Hi Colonel, Just out of interest, did you get a confirmation of shipping from CombatMission.com? I ordered my copy on Thursday of last week and got the automated Order Confirmation email, but nothing since. The reason that I ask is that I've had one or two problems using my English Credit Card to do online ordering from Vienna. There have been a couple of occasions where they check my card, check my location and then decide that my card has obviously been cloned. The fact that your copy has shipped and arrived so quickly makes me a little jumpy. Cheers Pizzi

I got a confirmation e-mail saying the package was shipped on 3/1 but the USPS is still telling me it hasn't been scanned into the mailstream. Not sure what that means...I think FedEx and UPS have better tracking systems. OT- Is anyone else a geek about tracking their packages? I LOVE seeing that it's gotten from Washington to Kansas to Maumee, Ohio. It's some weird addiction I have to check 8 times a day to see exactly where it is. I know-I need medication RockHPI

Glad to see so many people both interested and happy with this sim It was been great in its original release as Jane's 688. It was even better as Sub Command. Now it is finally hitting its full stride as Dangerous Waters. I think the stability and quality of Dangerous Waters at release is due to the fact that the core program has been around for quite some time. I hope this sim does well enough to justify a sequel that provides Soviet ships and aircraft corresponding to the American ones. Maybe even expanding the ships to include true sub hunters like the Spruance class. Given that the Perry is already modeled, it would not be too much of a stretch to cover DDGs, CGs, and CGNs like the Kidd, Arleigh Burke, Ticonderoga, and Virginia classes... and maybe down the road a ways... carriers! Am I getting too carried away?

People are forgetting DW is basically a Sub Command mod rebadged as a new game. And this fits into the stream of this thread how? Besides it isn't true, oh jaded one. Revamped gfx, revamped physics engine, revamped sound propagation engine, added quick mission generator, added scripting ofr missionbulder (which itself got upgraded). And lest we forget: Added drivable surface and air assets. Under duress, you might admit DW is SC2. But that would still sell it short.
