Hi there,
I'm just curious, I recently picked up Blackhawk Down on sale and I have been pleasantly surprised. The missions are really intersting and fun and although the AI isn't too good and the realism factor isn't all that high it is alot of fun to play.
I've played Ghost Recon and Brothers in Arms and I would certainly rate Blackhawk Down up there with them as far as entertainment. But there is no mention of the game anywhere on the forums. If you have played the game...what is your opinion?? And has anyone done any modding to improve the AI or the realism ??
Thanks, Tracy

Black Hawk Down has to the best FPS i've ever played especially for multiplayer. I was in an online squad for over a year and i had some great times. The squad is still there, but less active.
If you want to talk about BHD then come in here and i'll talk with you about it. I still play every now and then (multiplayer.)
I finished all the single player games in BHD and the expansion pack Team Sabre (see if you can get that too)

BHD was one of the first pc games i bought and loved it from start to finish. Then went and got Team sabre and i agree, well worth getting if the like BHD. I also it still stands up well against most of the newer stuff. An excellent game.

Hey cool with me.
Although you are slightly tunneled in a few missions it's still not as bad as with MOHAA, COD and Brothers in Arms. wink

What about the tunnel missions? They felt pretty tunneled to to me biggrin .

There's something satisfying about BHD. It's not the blood and guts (there isn't any really), it's not the challenge (the AI are dumb), it just feels good! I only wish there were more chopper missions, it's a blast shooting out of a Blackhawk.

Cheers

Hey Stormtrooper,
I would love to play BHD in multiplayer. I have played Vietcong in multiplayer and really didn't enjoy it all that much, nothing like getting shot by your own guys... !!
Anyways what is the easiest way to play BHD online. Do I have to sign up with Gamespot or Hyperlobby first... I'm pretty new to this.
Thanks !

Select multiplayer when you first start the game. The default should say Novaworld...so select 'join game'. you may have to register your name and the game id code. Make up a name and start playing. biggrin
I'm usually in Black hawk servers or Nightstalker.

I dont know why this happend but, some of the games that I have enjoyed the most are "dead games" that nobody talk about. Im talking about Black Hawk Down, Men of valor, Medal of Honor Pacific Assault, Vietcong. I think they were all very good games especially MOH Pacific Assault, one of the best FPS I have had.

I also enjoyed MOHPA. The switch from health packs to a medic was a good one. Far better than CoD2's "sit for a few seconds and feel better" crap. It didn't have quite the impact on me that MOHAA did when I played it the first time, but it was a better game overall. The problem was it was overshadowed at that point by CoD and people were thinking (after CoD, its addon, and MOHAA and 2 addons) "oh, another WWII FPS".

Anyone who can find a bargain copy of MOHPA I recommend it heartily, assuming you like non-tactical FPS games.

Well BHD is a somewhat old game (in game years that is) so most players have already moved on. That most likely accounts for the lack of traffic. Great game though...

I liked BHD for exactly the same reasons as the poster...fun factor. I thought the missions were pretty varied and well executed.

realism was missing, but with fun to replace it, who needed realism, right?

I often look out for it and am very often temtped to pick it up...but then don't....maybe one day

Medal of Honor AA and Operation Flashpoint were my first FPS, before that I was a flight simmer, so I remember thinking: First person shooter? what is that? so I bought then and Wow!. Anyway I just remember MoHAA and OF because they were the first, just like your first girlfriend, so is sentimental. I use to buy only historic, military FPS but a few days ago I bought Half Life 2 and Wow again!

Not a bad score. Most medics run into the negative when they play. biggrin

A game I liked that never caught on was Deadly Dozen 2. It was a WW2 Pacific Theater FPS. I thought the gameplay was solid and the lush jungle graphics were pretty good and provided a lot of cover.

But the multiplayer portion of the game just never caught on for some reason and it died a pretty quick death.
