I don't plan on going backwards, but a few of you might be interested to know that Delta Force Xtreme has gone gold and will be in stores soon for 19.95 (US)... it's the same game but with todays Novalogic graphics.

Do you know when it will be released in the UK?

hmmm, I may let this one pass - it looks ok, just wish it shipped with a few more weapons options.

1: it looks good visually. Better than Joint Ops.
2: Ambience and sound effects are nice
3: A.I. is dumber than usual. Even Joint Ops A.I. is more accurate and smarter, but Xtremes A.I. does stuff, jumps on tables in buildings, goes prone..guess they are still tweaking it... hopefully
4: Weaps effective distances are horribly capped to CQB distances. You cannot hit anything over 300 meters with the M4, 350 with the M16, not sure bout the sniper rifle, but I am hearing that no way can you go to 1000 meters anymore.

Bullet rounds just cease to exist after the distance caps.
5: The M4 from Joint Ops, now has a DF like side view, but all it is, is 1X, and is basically the J-Ops deathdot view. So NO DF 4x ACOG, and no sniper scope enhancement adjustments. No elevation settings.

The list goes on. If they rebalance the weaps to react and be the same effective ranges as DF, and tweaked the sp A.I., both mp and co op could be pretty awesome imho. It might even come close to being as good as DF 2. But you`d have to have grass to really beat DF 2 as the top DF experience.

I don't think that will change across the board, too many people complained about in JO. I hear it may come back as a server side option though.

Yeah, but it's Delta Force with good graphics now! Come on! I had many, many hours playing the heck out of SP and playing countless hours of MP. The original is one of my most played games.

I'm a crappy pilot, but one hell of a shot.

According to some posts I've read on DF website message boards, DF Extreme contains all of the drivable vehicles from Joint Ops and the Escalation addon, not just the handful officially listed. They may not be in any official missions but can be added in the mission editor.

Along with all the buildings, scenery etc. from the DF1 missions (presumably updated for Xtreme?), this could make the game potentially quite interesting for creating custom missions. Since it is £20 new and will probably be closer to £15 from sites like www.play.com, I might well pick it up - I had great fun creating missions for the BHD "drivable vehicles"
mod, though I never got around to finishing and releasing any!

I believe the UK release date is May 6th.

Could anyone with the game confirm whether or not the Joint Ops vehicles are included? (in the mission editor).
If so, I'll certainly put this on my "to buy" list when it's out here in the UK.

The original Delta Force is one of my ten favorite games of all time....not because it was a stellar, smooth production, but it was just amazingly enjoyable and fun to play, especially multiplayer. I spent many, many hours playing co-op with my brother, on the general servers, etc. It really was a blast. Of course, the dated graphics, etc. look stupid today, but I compare it to the earlier flight sims like Aces Over The Pacific, etc....we wouldn't put up with that today in games, but there was something about them that made them standout....maybe it was because for me DF was the first big multiplayer shooter I had ever played.

Now that I have broadband, I'm thinking of picking up Joint Operations, or maybe this now instead, and getting back into it.

If all you care about as far as DF is concerned, is the letters DF on the box, and better visuals. Then this game is for you. Most Vets concur tho, that DF wasd not about the visuals, it was about the unhindered ranged mil combat. Which btw is all but gone.

We are petitioning for a return of the original DFs proper weap range effectiveness, and a real 4x scope. But as always, that will be a losing battle. Again I envy the peeps who actually like how Xtreme is. Enjoy.

I've got it. Played a few missions. Sticks pretty close to the original. Not bad. The sound is a little hokey, but it's definitely the original DF with a tweaked graphics engine.

I'll come up with a longer review after playing it for a while.

Sorry to repeat this, but could anyone answer my question about the Joint Ops vehicles
being available in the mission editor? I'd be interested to know.

Also, does it have the same variety of mission environments as the original DF1 had? - e.g South America, North Africa, etc.

From what i've read in the Extreme forums at Nova world the answer is yes. All the JO vehicles are there.
