As I understand it, it's Eurofighter Typhoon that is EF2000 V3

From what little reading I've done on the DID/Rage sims (admittedly only since last weekend), I don't believe Typhoon was ever meant to be EF2000 v3.0 because it was aimed at a different target audience than EF2000. It looks to me like Typhoon is a lighter spin-off of EF2000 versus a progressive upgrade. I don't know why this path was chosen, maybe the more realistic combat flight sim market wasn't doing very well?

In any case, I'm certain that if DID/Rage would have shared CombatSim's vision of what their next Eurofighter sim SHOULD have been (per that article), this message board would still be active. \:\)

Balsa Munitions R&D Institutio...
The base code for EF2k v3 had been around since TAW, but was unfinished and gathering dust.
Rage bought DiD.
Then Rage cobled the unfinished code together and released it as an arcade game (easier to do than an accurate simulation) to make some cash, hence the reason Typhoon has so many 'holes' in it.

That's what I heard.

If true Hengist, it's a crime! \:\(

I'd love to have EF2000 with a major D3D facelift (i.e. graphics on par with Strike Fighters [not too extreme]) and with support for current hardware (i.e. game speed not related to CPU).

Besides not having any sound, my copy of Super EF2000 keeps forgetting that I want to always run it in full screen. Very annoying to have to keep resetting it. \:\(

What a shame this sim didn't see at least one more release to address those issues, even if everything else remained the same!

Has this possibility been completely ruled out by now?
