Perhaps RAGE should change the title of their latest release in the Flight Sim arena. Took Typhoon home on Friday, it crashed 2 minutes into the first flight. Did a cold re-boot, ran the game again, CRASHED the system right-off. Copied the patch .exe file into the game, it kept saying to "insert CD-ROM". Swapped the original .exe back into the dir, hit "GO" . . . Crash & Burn! Uninstalled, deleted EVERY Rage/Typhoon reference I could find & ran back to Gamespot with a receipt & shoved the game down their throats for a full refund! "Amen!". I'll wait till Manteau cracks the TAW code, thank you very much!

Ummm...what are your system specs, what graphic card are you using? What drivers? Etc..etc. Since the game is/was working for probably 95% of the people who tried; forgive me if I lean towards not blaming the game for your problems. What exactly do you mean by saying you "Copied the patch .exe file into the game"? If you bought the game Friday it's already been using the latest patched file.

Did you try adding "no-intro" to the command line in the short cut, what version of directx are you using....... you seem to be a little to eager to have goten rid of it. As Uroboros said, this thing has ran on over 95% of peoples PC's....... so most likely it was out of date drivers, or directx.....not the software.

I've got a PIII 450, 128 Sdram, Geforce 32 meg with LATEST Detonator drivers.
I tried clicking both the Icon and the exe file, but I didn't realize the version I bought last week was a new "patched" version.
Funny . . . the patch I downloaded was several "k" smaller than that on the CD?
I've got DirectX 8.0, and I avoided letting Typhoon install version 7 as I am content with 8.0.
Perhaps I dropped the hot potatato a bit too soon, the SIM was gorgeous when I DID get into it, it just seemed to take 15 or 20 redundant steps to get through the arming and taxiing "movies" with no clear direction as to when the sim itself would allow ME to take-over.
I think when I actually got up in the air, it was a complete accident. . . the manual was not much help either.
I guess I'll keep my eyes glued to this forum, (I visit the TAW site daily), and when my life is less clutterd & trouble free, I can always pick up a copy of Typhoon again . . .
Thanx for the feedback guys! Gary.
