Only played the game for about 2 hours, but looking good so far (not sure what "clipping" or "popping" is graphics-wise by the way but my Geforce seems OK at the moment).

Tried the Sub Kill mission last night. Approached the sub head on and then got SAM warnings. Headed for the deck and managed (luckily) to level out at about 80 feet. Selected cannon and tried to strafe the sub (came close to taking the top off his conning tower with my wings) but sadly did not pump enough lead in there.

My wingman seemed less enthusiastic, despite my encouragement, to attack in this way and decided to hang back at about 3,000 feet.

The attack seemed to illicit a number of cruise missile launches in response (the cheek!) so I headed off after one of them. Thought I would try the wing flipping move which RAF pilots used to do with the V1 rockets in WW2. Closed in but when I tried to touch the fin of the cruise missile it decided that enough was enough.

Boom.

Yeah - I thought about the V1 style attacks, but I didn't try it.

I've found that ASRAAM from 2 nm away at the missile's 5 oclock position gives almost 100% kill rate. Don't know about other people.

Cheers,
Manteau

Almost, but not quite, as mental - ASRAAM shot from about 400 yards. Thankfully I was at it's 4-5 o'clock position or I would have been playing Hoover with the debris. Very impressive explosion, though. [g]
