I phoned Game Ltd this morning. They said they were getting it today, but it's scheduled for release tomorrow... However, they did say that they'd sell me a copy today

Hope they do get it in today.

If you do get it today, do you mind posting in here so I can try dropping in on my local Game store to see if I can get it on the way home?

Hmmmm, your lucky, the Leeds Game seem reluctant to do that. In the past I've had a assistant say, "Well you can look at the box now and I'll sell you it tomorrow..."

Fortunately, the game in question was Gunship! So I wasn't overly bothered

I sure will post my initial review of it, and yup it's gonna be a late night.

The manager at Game agreed (after a little persuasion ), to sell me a copy. What's gonna happen is; I'll bung him the money, and he'll ring it through the till tomorrow.

HAHAHA...I got mine here too

Apparently some half-wit shop assistant here in Wolverhampton got his dates mixed up and put the game on sale this morning, so every retailer in the City has followed suit.

I can't see me getting much sleep this weekend...

Yorkshire Tea, Manteau and all,

Game Ltd policy is not to sell it until the release date. However, if another company breaks that agreement (i.e. HMV, etc) and sells the game, then Game are allowed to sell it before the release date as well.

I didn't wanna say where I got mine from, due to me kind of protecting the store manager. But seeing as Platy has picked a copy up as well, then what the hell

I'm only 40 miles away from you YT, just over the Pennines in Manchester. Go tell 'em in Leeds that the whole country is selling it and you want your copy today

Likewise, Manteau go and do the same in Dorset (hell, even print this post out and take it to 'em).

P.S. YT, I used to live in Leeds for around 7 years, I still work over there frequently at Albion Tower in the city centre.

LOL!! :=)

I've spent all afternoon plotting how I'd get the game if they didn't sell it to me.

By the time I leave work all the shops will be closed, so I'll have to get it tomorrow

Couldn't scan some pages from the manual and upload them could you :=)

Cheers,
Manteau

Manteau,

Isn't Thursday a late night shopping day?

Or alternatively, feign a sudden bout of sickness and leave work early

P.S. The manual has had me tripping down memory lane with a tear in my eye, kinda like an improved version of F22adf/TAW... still reading it.

jgalante,

Box outer skin has a pick of the Typhoon on the front, on the back 6 pics from the game with various quotes around 'em. Inside that is a black box, inside that is a 104 page manual, CD case with inserts and a keyboard command card. There are some great pics of the actual Typhoon in the manual, the controls are basically the same as TAW.

Haven't you booted it up yet?

(In a motherly voice) "...Now, now Hengist, I don't want you up playing that silly game all night" - leave yourself enough energy to type your initial thoughts.

BTW, is the Fox and Newt still going? Ah, the effects of 4 pints of "Kirkstall Ruin"...

Interesting....

Just had a Tornado GR1 fly over low level, following by a Harrier GR7 at 90 deg bank and now a Navy Lynx is buzzing around.

Doesn't exactly improve my mood as both of those aircraft are in Typhoon, but still...

lol DRG,

My watering holes when I lived there were;

The Royal Oak (lazy summers drunk on the bowling green ).
The Sky Rack.
The Faversham.
The Fox 'n Newt (still there I believe).
The Fenton.

Hell, I've probably been standing next to you in the past, supping a pint

I'm working on this contract that takes me up to Penwortham every now and then, just outside Preston. It's quite close to British Aero Space and I frequently see the EF Typhoon jetting around. Actually, I'm up there tomorrow teaching a course... I'll keep watching the skies through the window

This is scary!

I used to work in the Royal Park Mon - Thu nights. Yeah, I am a big hard scary mother....right. How old are you, I'm 36.

I used to love the Faversham, pretentious twat that I am. The Sky Rack was the one with bowling green wasn't it?

Mis-read your post. Which one was the Sky Rack then, the one opposite?

I pity your students tomorrow!

DRG,

The Oak n Rack were literally within spitting distance of each other, just across the road from each other. It was the Oak that had the bowling green, sadly the bowling green is no more. I forgot that I used to frequent the Royal Park as well.. oh and the Hyde Park on Hyde park corner also

I'm also in the 30-something age bracket.

... small world aint it

You boys across the pond really need to stop teasing us over here

Hopefully we'll be able to get it here before the end of this year right Mr. Hunt? I know, I know....I could order from a UK website. Unfortunately I'm one of those guys who needs to make his sim purchases with a high degree of stealth. The finance minister(a.k.a wife) just doesn't seem to view sims as a necessary purchase...hehehe

Eeek,

You go away - come back expecting to find a discussion of Typhoon and it's turned into a Leeds pub crawl.

Fox & Newts still going AFAIK - though the Pig & Whistle shut down a few years ago, as has the Duchess of York (to make way for a shopping centre - just what Leeds needs more of ) Fenton's still going strong (and is the nearest thing I have to a local for music), some decent live acts crop up in the Royal Park Cellar (nice'n'small). Faversham's gone a bit theme pubby and, I must admit that I only really go in there now when anyone from work has a leaving do. The 'Rack and the 'Oak are still heaving during term times.

...Back to Typhoon ...

This is my favourite ever thread, what with Leeds boozers (nostalgia is a powerful something or other!) feedback and financial controllers.

Jedi - happy Jedi day to you, d'ya feel special. (Thanks to the BBC for pointing that one out). Pete Townsend, Steve Jones, let's rock!

Jon - like it, like it. Know exactly how you feel, although I am using "Age of Empires" to try and change her mind...

My wife used to do a pub quiz in the Pig and Whistle, so she'll shed a little tear tonight.

I may hold on another week before I buy the game, see how it develops. More feedback please, and thanks so far.

Hengist I`m a motorbike cop in Manchester. Where abouts do you live? I`ve escorted the new Nimrod wings from BAE at Middleton so you may have seen me buzzing about.

I pray to god you haven't seen me buzzing by recently or else I'm probably in for a ticket
