Probably glued-on "tape" (I don't remember the correct vocabulary) to mount the Combat Identification Panels (CIPs) which create a cold spot in the thermal signature of the tanks when mounted. They look like "venetian blinds" and are covered with thermal radiation reflective tape, "thermal mirrors" so to speak. So they reflect the typically low intensity radiation from the sky, which creates the impression of a cold spot in thermal sights. This is supposed as another safety net to prevent misidentification and fratricide.

That's why the world needs armor experts, and armor simulation games. wink

If SB2's IR/NV system works anything like SB1's, it should be quite easy - SB1
uses a different skin for vehicles when in NV mode, so the CIPs would just have to be painted on
the appropriate places. Of course if SB2 uses a more sophisticated system for IR/NV, it would
make things a bit harder!

I only found out about CIPs a few months ago, when I made some for the semi-scratchbuilt
1/24 Bradley model I was working on.
