I’ve recently rewatched both “The Shining” and “Aliens” and I’m convinced that the performances by Carrie Henn and Danny Lloyd are the best I’ve ever seen by child actors. Which others would you include?

Haley Joel Osment in Sixth Sense I thought did a good job and the brother from the original Poltergeist looked sufficiently terrified enough throughout the film.
That Farrow bloke you executed today, are you sure he's dead? Well I chopped his head off, that usually does the trick. Yes, don't get clever with me Baldrick. I just thought you might have lopped off a leg or something by mistake. No, the thing I chopped off had a nose.

The guy playing David in A.I. Absolutely fantastic performance. He was indeed great in both AI and Sixth Sense.

Going into the more obscure for these:
It's not a major role, and I had to look up his name, but Miko Hughes played Jim Lovell's youngest boy in Apollo 13, and I thought he did a good job looking concerned and expressing sadness, which I thought might be more difficult for a child.
Also, in Robocop 2, this was a bit of a strange role, but I thought Gabriel Damon did a good job as the kid that takes over the drug operation. He was in a ST:TNG episode, but I don't recall seeing him in anything else. That's just from my recollection, but I'm sure I could look up his other roles on IMDB.

Good call! I haven't seen the new True Grit so I can't comment on that one.

"Empire of the Sun" is a very good movie even though it seems to be one of Spielberg's forgotten films.

That's a good one. Kid played that part so well the director and crew tried to get him to go into counseling.

Just no. That's the epitome of the annoying Hollywood kid, in the same category as young Anakin Skywalker in 'The Phantom Menace'. I'd vote for someone like Natalie Portman in 'Leon'

Excellent pick indeed. I need to rewatch that movie some day.
