I received an email from Photobucket warning of my impending account deletion. I could not even remember what I had stored there so I retrieved/updated my password (by going directly to their website, not using any email link) and tried to log in... they wanted to charge me FIVE BUCKS just to login. What a scam.

Yeah, wrote them off a few years ago when almost the same thing happened to me.

Look for me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or Tic Toc...or anywhere you may frequent, besides SimHq, on the Global Scam Net. Aka, the internet. I am not there, never have been or ever will be, but the fruitless search may be more gratifying then the "content" you might otherwise be exposed to.

I haven't even gone to their site for at least 7-8 years. I didn't need them amymore once I started doing the great majority of my screenshots in Steam.

Tell them to turn to their right, gain height, and disappear in short, sharp jerky movements!

Years ago when they started charging, they allowed one to archive everything on the site and take with oneself, so I did, and promptly uploaded them to Imgur, which has been great--even better, than Photobucket ever was.

The whole Photobucket debacle was a factor in me getting my own website for photo hosting. If I remember right, they were free, then decided to charge and had some ridiculous pricing, like hundreds of dollars a year, and the vast majority of people left and they essentially had no business. I'm surprised they are still in operation at all.
I used Imgur for a few things, but having my own site just gives me complete control, so I rarely use anything other than that.
