Look for me on Twitter, Instagram, Facebook or Tic Toc...or anywhere you may frequent, besides SimHq, on the Global Scam Net. Aka, the internet.
I am not there, never have been or ever will be, but the fruitless search may be more gratifying then the "content" you might otherwise be exposed to.

I get all of my weather info from NOAA. I avoid all of the sensationalist claptrap out there in the mainstream news media.

I've lived on the Gulf coast all my life just south of Tampa Bay, ..Yawn. Yesterday a common Thunderstorm that lasted maybe 40 minutes locally flooded all the streets 2 blocks around my house, like knee deep for a block on high traffic roads. Hurricanes really don't scare me, the last one I didn't bother to put up the shutters and we were fine. It's the panicky idiots I worry most about. So go out and buy TP and Water now by the pallet just to be safe.

Your post reminded me of those people who wore masks while driving by themselves in their car during the pandemic. The human species is prone to panic.

Just for kicks, if you can stomach it, watch the ABC, CBS, and NBC Evening News at 6:00 PM EST. Every night they do a story about some kind of weather and hype it. Sensational lead ins, scary out of context video, tense music, and of course commentary from their "Chief Meteorological Correspondent". It's ridiculous.

I'm very proud to say that those networks (and several others) don't make a single advertising cent off of me.

The last place I lived that had a TV was when I was dealing with cancer at my sis's place on the beach. Hardly watched it at all. Haven't had a TV to watch in almost 10 years and don't miss it at all. nope

Good to see you still hangin in there LB4LB.

Whatever the situation is, it'll be "historic" "highest ever" "most ever" ever, ever, ever. When you eliminate data points that don't support whatever it is you're trying to sensationalize, it's easy to put out bilge that people believe.

I know several people (mostly college aged) who genuinely believe that hurricanes only exist because of "climate change".

I wouldn't, of course I would never have gone to Disney in the first place. smile

Also, might cut down on the crowds.

It's a tropical depression now and it is clearly going to the Florida Gulf coast. Hopefully it will not be any more than a depression.

Heading for the slot, anything could happen.

My current guess is landfall NW of Cedar Key, then across FL and entering the Atlantic around Brunswick, GA. But...

If it stalls or slows down a lot after entering the Gulf all bets are off.

Knowledge is wonderful. NHC's tracks have been pretty much on the money for a decade or so now. Sad to hear about a family vacation ruined due to ignorance. Avoid watching MSLSD and all it's sister garbage networks. Find the real facts and make your decision based on that. I hope they didn't lose a bunch of money...

Debbie was the biggest tropical storm I had ever see in my memory. Prolly a cane as I type this. Don't know if we have anyone here living in the big bend, but I hope they haul butt out of there and take all those beautiful a/c at Tyndall with them. Might be a CAT II at landfall.

Stupid hurricane prep moments I just saw on my bike ride to get a root beer at the store. All I have is beer and water, too early for beer, and water is just not gonna cut it for my mother of all cheeseburgers with homemade fries hurricane lunch.

One, a "new resident" (being polite, it's Sunday) watering all his plants in the yard. We are about to get a projected one foot of rain in the next 24 hours. dizzy

Two, another guy making a big pile of trash next to the road on the south side of his house, the side some projections are saying we may have 50 mph gusts coming from tonite! banghead

I am as battened down as I get.Time to chill, maybe one more lap around town before the deluge.
