Yesterday was clear in the morning. But, during "Eclipse Hours" was heavy overcast, very very heavy rain at times -- so heavy we seemed to be looking through a dense cloud just to see the Neighbor House across the street. And, during those rains the sunlight was already dimmed as though nearing the Eclipse Maximum.

We'll see. Not surprised if "we don't see". smile

P.S. Just in case, we've ordered our "Eclipse Glasses" -- special sun blocking lenses for viewing an Eclipse.

Maybe this eclipse is due to alien activity! I'm surprised the news media hasn't claimed that yet.

The government said aliens and U.F.O. don't exist. They renamed U.F.O. Unidentified Flying Objects to U.A.P. Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena. One day they will rename U.A.P. to I.O.Y.F.I. (It's Only Your F.... Imagination).

I can guarantee you that everyone on SimHQ will be ok from this eclipse. No one is going to turn into a werewolf or be abducted by aliens.

I'm modifying our regular eyeglasses to optimize the view. So, bye for now. biggrin

Good view. Cloud cover officially 20percent. Not an issue, so far.

Moon solidly over Sun. But, less than half, so far.

Lafayette, Louisiana was cloudy. I was able to see it for a couple of minutes as it peeked through the clouds.

Well, it was touch and go for a moment!

Buffalo, NY was right in the path. Sadly, it was pretty overcast so I didn't really get to see the full show, but I was surprised at how quickly it got brighter as the eclipse subsided!

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck.”

We enjoyed it. As mentioned above, the sky was not "perfectly clear" -- just a very, very thin haze. To bare eyes looking out over the landscape the sun was bright and the shadows dark -- like for a clear sky.

For viewing with eyes through special sunglasses (vs a telescope for science), things went fine smile

At the full eclipse, we took the special glasses off and could use "bare eyes" and ordinary sunglasses. The haze presented no problem.
