I bet it"s going to take CDPR at least one and probably two more attempts to make a Cyberpunk game that actually lives up to the hype of 2077. i dont care about hype, i want what was advertised. they said we could crome ourself as we wanted. so many cool npcs with crome parts and we cant do that.not that it matters much when we can only see ourself in the mirror and inventory screen, its clear as day why there is no third person cam

I though I heard them say they were done after Phantom Liberty came out. They're now remastering The Witcher in Unreal 5. It's kinda too bad. I had fun with Cyberpunk, but if they took some lessons learned and gave it another go for another story in Night City (or some other location), that would be a blast.

The word is that they're done with 2077, it's on to "Cyberpunk 2." https://www.gamesradar.com/cdpr-is-finally-finished-with-cyberpunk-2077-now-its-cyberpunk-2-time/ Well I'm happy to be wrong in this case.

I had fun with 2077 but I'm glad they've decided to concentrate on a sequel instead of wasting any more resources on a now 3 year old game. I guess the better alternative would have been for the developer to dump the game soon after release and forget about it? As for a sequel, I really don't see what they can do differently when it comes to story and game mechanics. What would be fundamentally different?

Give me a crime noir in that setting. One of my favorite side quests was helping River to uncover some corrupt cops, solve some crime and rescue some kidnapped kids. Yeah that entire quest line with River was really well done.

I'm glad they didn't abandon the game but we're at the point where they're just better off with a fresh start. For one thing, they could make the Night City landscape and its inhabitants a lot more substantial and interactive, something they didn't do in 2077 in large part due to engine limitations. I would also like meaningful and dynamic faction relations, far more depth in terms of cyberwear and weapons modding, vehicle modding should be a thing. I would also like to see the combat mechanics heavily revised so that they're more grounded in reality and in keeping with the tabletop games, although I'm not holding my breath on that. And of course there are countless little details that need to be changed, from the clunky inventory system to the lack of earbuds and a flashlight that doesn't just work underwater.

Those are some good suggestions. My only main complaint with 2077 is that there was minimal narrative and character difference between Corpo, Nomad and Street Kid. Once you were done with the prologue part of the game those three different backgrounds meant very little.

I also think that letting V become powerful to the point where they're almost on par with Neo from the Matrix was a mistake. A major recurring theme in the Cyberpunk setting is that the player characters are small fish swimming in a big tank full of sharks. Where going against the elites of a megacorp like Arasaka without equivalent corporate backing would make being on the sh*tlist of the High Table from the John Wick universe hardly look like a threat in comparison. Having a V that can walk into anywhere and beat everyone to death with a dildo while moving at literal hypersonic speed, is rather silly to say the least.

I can certainly see your point here and other games have also fallen into the same pitfall of letting you create a nearly-invincible character. The Deus Ex series comes to mind.

Silverhand is a lot closer to being a nihilistic Theodore Logan than he is John Wick. He has a lot of resources, connections and social influence through his music, but in terms of combat capability he's better off leaving the heavy lifting to others; the bard of the party.

Silverhand's version of events is HIGHLY inaccurate, both because IIRC he was actually already dead when Soulkiller was used on him and so his copy was damaged as result, and also because he's a classic narcissist that needs to be the hero of every story. In reality it was the famed professional solos Santiago and Rogue that did most of the damage on his team, which turned out to be only the diversionary team. His team didn't even have the nuke and I'm not sure if they were even aware of it.
