Ah yes, "Encounter at Farpoint". I'm SO glad they got rid of those "man skirts" after the pilot episode.

I had just moved to San Diego, working computer retail, and my schedule kept me from watching the first few episodes, and it was years later before I saw most of the first season in reruns. Strangely, the lowest frequency of my FM radio would pick up the audio of local Fox affiliate on which it aired, so I was able to listen to a few early episodes while driving home, though.

Now that is pure nerdom achieved right there! Working computer retail AND listening to episodes of TNG while driving. biggrin

Nerd-vana!

Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty.
This is known as "bad luck.”
