My third flight in the mighty Be2C. A Dover patrol that was supposed to last 21 minutes. After faffing around for 45 minutes or so following the rest of my flight I decided enuff is enuff and went into land near Canterbury. Seeing as the wind seemed to be coming towards the hangars I opted for the unusual approach of coming in over them and thus landing into the wind. Everything was going tickety boo until my undercart clipped a blasted tree and converted me into a ghost. I can see I am up for more reading and practice until I can cast fear into the Kaiser's best. dizzy

Those trees do jump out to get you! Especially when the near LoD kicks in! Also, who plants trees that close to an active aerodrome!!!

You can't come in flat over a tree top. You have to come in a little high, then side-slip over the tree line and drop in shortly after it, burying the tail in right away to kill ground speed.

The tree will win every time if you try a direct approach.

Try it again with a side-slip... dip your left or right wing, depending on wind direction and add-in opposite rudder to the aileron position. You'll drop like a rock.
