From time to time, when I'm working with the WOFF skins, I run across a WOFF ace skin that was made for the Skin Pack which has no pilot.

These skins are normally historical for the pilot for whom they were made, but somehow the pilot never got on the WOFF ace list, so the skin is never used.

So, it's up for grabs if you like to fly with your own skin.

I thought I'd start posting them when I run across them.

The first two are Jasta 5 Albatri.

Wilhelm Gurke was with Jasta 5 from Feb 1918 until 10 March, when he was kill. Beautiful skin 1917 DVa..

The other is a 1918 Albatros DVa is for Jupp Cremer, who also did not make the list. He was with Jasta 5 starting in Oct 1917. Jasta Pilots gives his departure date at Feb 1918 but doesn't say what happened to him. The Windsock bock on Jasta5 says he was with them after March 1918 and has a picture of this DVa with 1918 and a similar one with 1917 markings.

I made two skins with the Cremer Albatri for my Personal Skin Mod, a 1917 DVa and a DV uprated. Those will be in the next release of the Mod.


I'll post more of these as I come across them again.

The Guerke skin is cool but just FYI for the skinners updating the sim, his plane was black from tail to spinner, not red. The spinner was red, however. I know the plane is shown to be red with a green spinner in the old Jasta 5 Windsock Datafile (which states their interpretation of Guerke's plane is speculative) but British researcher Alex Imrie and German researcher Bruno Schmaeling learned this black fuse/red spinner color info when interviewing former WW1 pilots (including Jasta 5's Josef Mai) in the 1970s. Also, a photograph of the machine shows where the lines of the cross intersected, they did not touch. (IIRC, Guerke plane reflected his interest in the occult.) I can't access more info because it's on the upper bookshelves in my office and my recent ankle surgery prevents me from utilizing the access ladder.

The skin was done way back in 2013, so as you say, based on the old Windsock datafile.

Still, makes a nice personal skin, if an inaccurate one. I may make a correct black one, just for the heck of it. I'll have to dig out that interview with the Jasta 5 boys. Lots of information to keep track of.

Just wanna mention to everyone, just in case they don't know; BRUNO SCHMÄLING IS A GOD! (fan here)

Here's a couple of Alb DV Uprated from Jasta 11

Otto Brauneck and Wilhelm Brockelmann

Both these guys are on the ace list for BHH2 but Jasta 11 doesn't start flying the DV until 17 Aug 1917. By that time Brauneck is KIA and Brockelmann is out of action with a wound, the actual date of his wounding is 3 Sep according to Jasta Pilots, but WOFF takes him out of the linup a few days before the DV is allocated.
