I recently bought a Denon receiver and Klipsch speakers. I have not bought home audio equipment since the mid 90's. The last decade or so I have been getting by with My Bose headphones and Bose Companion 5 PC speakers (12 yrs old and going strong). But I have to be sitting at my PC to use those. Something I am doing less of these days. I have pretty much lost interest in gaming. There are a few old titles I will probably always have installed. But I have not gamed in well over a month. That is a 50 inch TV, it looks small. Those speaker towers are 4 feet high and weight 54 lbs a piece. Next investment will probably be a 4K TV. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/9L5pjQ3.jpg)

Yes, music and drink go together well. I've been sober 21 yrs now. Thats a great achievement and looks like you quit around the time you son was born... As in you put your family first. The bold Juice is prolly one of the biggest homewreckers on the planet. An easy trap to fall into but a sob to get back out of as it can get a hold on the head pretty dam fast,,, My granny and my gf have me down to 3 days a week or the nagging becomes "painful" to the extreme. Today in not allowed to drink but im watching the simpsons and homer makes me want lots of beers lol. Soon i will visit my local off-licence and get 8 large bottles of bulmers cider along with a shoulder of captain morgans rum. Let the nagging commence...hah.

Wango, that'll sound much better than what I have. I'm just afraid my ears wouldn't appreciate as much as they used to. ++++++++++ Booze, unhealthy food (e.g. fried oyster poboy...soft French bread, heavy on the mayo ), my remaining hearing...gotta pace myself now. Must ration the pleasures (with alcohol, a yearly allowance and no more). Sucks getting older but that's how it is now, mapping life's indulgences (along with blood pressure) on Excel spreadsheets to track consumption, monitor trends, making sure to stay in control. Blood sugar now just under 90 (no meds) and I plan to keep this way, partly with very moderate drinking.

I was really into it, especially in my 20's and 30's. Then came kids. Lifestyle change. The kids are both adults now. I felt the urge to get back into it. I found some really good deals, so I took the step. I'm glad I did. Glad to hear you are taking your health seriously MarkG. Losing your hearing must be difficult.

Very nice. I don't think you can go wrong with Denon. I see the big speakers are back in style again like the 70's and 80's. That system looks like it could crack the foundation of the house if you took it to "11". Definitely going to set off a few car alarms. I think a sound check test with Pink Floyd Animals or Black Sabbath Paranoid is in order with a full report soon. Animals has been tested a few times already These speakers are large, but narrow.

New addition ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/faDpM6C.jpg) Looks good. 👍 I'm still using an Acoustic Research B1 deck from the 70's!

You have to love legacy equipment that stands the test of time. Mine is a Fluance RT85N turntable. I am very happy with it. I need an anti static brush thought.

Yeah. I have about 40 albums left from my teens. (late 70's early 80's) they are all pretty rough. As you said, house parties and stuff. Stacked up on the floor, out of their sleeves, ash tray on the floor haha. I won't be putting any of those relics on this table.

I was going to write some joke comment like "I didn't realize that A-Ha released so many records", but I'd better not. ..and I see 'Blue Oyster Cult' in there, so that collection can't be too shabby. Nice setup in the original post WT! I had something like that years ago (Jamo D5 Speakers IIRC) , but too many close neighbors now, so it's headphones for me.

Sorry! It's a-ha of course. It's a slow day at work, so this got me trying to think of Norwegian bands/musicians without checking online, and have only come up with a-ha and Edvard Grieg. I can think of many from the other Nordic countries. I should get back there. Fantastic scenery but a couple of whaleburgers and beers cost me a fortune I seem to remember.

Yes, I live in a neighborhood where everyone has at least 3/4 of an acre. Also, my setup is in my rec room. I have a raised bungalow. So essentially I am in a huge cement bunker. I can blast the crap out of it It is so refreshing to listen to music in full range. I bought a proper stand. The receiver JUST fit. I upgraded my speaker cables to banana plugs. Now it is time to collect albums. I will likely just be buying new pressings. Purple vinyl, nice touch. ![[Linked Image]](https://i.imgur.com/f2Ie2rS.jpg)

I guess you know. Nowadays there would be Kygo, Alan Walker or Aurora or Girl From The North that would be internationally known I guess. Thenwe have MadCon, Satyricon etc. @WT Great setup you have there. I have those 2 albums. Pink Floyd is my favourite. That Deep Purple album is a live recording isn`t it. With "Speed King" and "When a blind man cries". Or am I mixing them now? (I`ve read that Blackmore hated that last song.

Ok, I was wrong. So long ago that may be it is time to go through them. I have some Deep Purple albums. I also have an album where "Hey Joe" is included. Haven`t seen that on any other album if I am right. I stopped buying Deep Purple albums after the first album after Ian Gillan left.

The Gillan era was the best. He's still going at 78 ! Glover and Paice still with him. I saw them in 1984. One of my favorite concerts. It was surreal seeing the legends in person. It was also the first time I saw lasers. They had a hologram of the DP logo from Perfect Strangers. album.

Just like when David Byron left Uriah Heep for me they were never the same. I only know a few of their songs. But I like them. They are a band I should dive into. I seem to recall a documentary I saw on them, David Byron knew the lifestyle was going to kill him.

My son just asked me if I ever owned a turntable with a big horn speaker on it. WTF. I'm 55 not 110.
