This may have been posted before, but at 14:44 in the BSG miniseries (beginning of SyFy series) pause and look at the left side of the screen.

I need to talk my wife into a BSG re-watch I'd be curious to know why your wife didn't care for the series. My wife simply said it was "too dark" for her and "too political".

It's not that she didn't enjoy it she just doesn't go for a re-watch, in general, as readily as I will.

My girlfriend LOVED the new BSG, up until season 3. After the first few episodes of season 3, we both agreed it kind of lost it. We watched it until the end, hoping it might get better, but in our opinion, it just kept getting worse. . Supporters and detractors aside, there is no doubt that the series underwent some systemic changes with the very end of season 2/start of season 3. Between the New Caprica arc and the Final 5 arc, there were definitely some narrative and tonal changes. Some fans liked it some didn't.

I always meant to check out this series but still haven't. I watched the original in the 70's and am a Sci-Fi fan so I'll see if I can get the wife to watch. I have Peacock and see that's it's available to stream there if it's the same one you guys are talking about.
Here's the best analogy I can come up with, Original 70's BSG: Geared for a kid and teen audience. Reimagined BSG: Geared for an adult audience.

Fair enough. I know people who are fine watching a movie or tv series just once and moving on even if they really enjoyed it. It's nerds like us I guess who like to watch a series multiple times if we really liked it. I'm just looking for things to watch until I can restart the Stargate Franchise without looking too much like I have an obsession. If it were just me I would start season 1 episode 1 of SG1 immediately after the last episode of SGU.....

Some shows I can re-watch, some I can’t. I bet I’ve watched Rome 10 times LOL. This is probably my 2nd rewatch of BSG

Shame the BSG reboot of the reboot was shelved...
The official statement from Sam Esmail is that it was going to be a continuation of the Ron Moore universe but with different characters and different stories. It was not going to reboot anything. My educated guess is that the project fell apart due to creative differences between Esmail and NBC/Universal which owns the BSG property.

I know I’ve said it before but I think it bears repeating - the Colonial military is so hopelessly and utterly inept that I don’t know how they managed to win a single battle.

the Colonial military is so hopelessly and utterly inept that I don’t know how they managed to win a single battle. Probably about 98% of the population of the 13 colonies was wiped out in the initial cylon nuclear attack that you see in the miniseries. I would imagine the US military would also not be very effective if somehow 98% of the US population got wiped out.

Weren't the Cylons originally slave soldier robots for humanity? Or am I misremembering it? If so then human expertise may have been lost over time.
