This a famous USA highway and was the title of a TV show. One of the actors in "Route 66", George Maharis, has passed.

There was only 16 squadrons of RAF fighters that used 100 octane during the BoB.
The Fw190A could not fly with the outer cannon removed.
There was no Fw190A-8s flying with the JGs in 1945.

Won't you get hip to this timely tip
When you make that california trip
Get your kicks on route sixty-six!"

Part of the Rolling Stones' set when I first saw them back in 1965! Ticket was 7/6d (pre-decimalisation. Approx. one dollar!). Sister in Law in France saw them recently and the ticket price way up in the Gods was 125 Euros. $130!
Some friends in our village travelled the route a few years ago on hired Harleys. I gather the route is not not continuous and somewhat over-commercialised; but what did they expect?

The price of some gig tickets is getting out of hand. & yet other artists/bands seem able to keep theirs reasonable.

I've only done a bit of Route 66 around Amarillo (incl. Cadillac Ranch). I was really in the area paying homage to Buddy Holly (Lubbock) & Roy Orbison (Wink).

RIP Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison. Both died well before they should have.
