It's not my favorite era and location but I'll still buy the game. I'm sure I'll still end up putting several hundred hours into it. smile

Creative Assembly says the game should be out in October.

Indeed. I was hoping for that or a Napoleon II.

Not excited for this, but I won't hate it either. Like Rome 2 and Three Kingdoms I'm not interested in the era, but also like Rome 2 and Three Kingdoms it won't matter if the campaign is good.

I'm big on ranged units in Total War, and I wonder what options will exist in ancient Egypt. Whatever there is, I just can't see them being all that interesting. Flinging burning oil or something around the battlefield. In the end the era is a setting, and what's important are the campaign mechanics, faction diversity and the AI.

No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

It will be Bronze Age Egypt so basically just what you said along with bows & arrows and maybe some crude ballistae. Did you ever play Troy?

No, didn't play Troy. Archers and ballistae are so old news.

Med 3 would have archers, crossbows, catapults, trebuchets, cannon, blunderbusses! English longbows, and I saw a show once where some French soldiers had taken up residence in a castle in England, and as a defense they hurled cows and chickens and stuff over the parapet. The attackers ran away. Maybe some of that.

But seriously, despite the disappointing era here, I'll pick it up almost certainly, on sale probably. Let's see what the early word is upon release.

The irony that always gets me about that scene is that all of the participants are speaking in a language that wouldn't exist had the Normans never invaded. smile
