Sadly the time has come to replace my trusty Win 7 i5 computer, it being on last legs.

Have been shopping around for a while now, and have narrowed it down to two systems, namely:

Scorptec Precision GTX 1650 Gaming PC @ $1,299.00 Aus
Intel Core i5 12400F 6 Core,
Intel H610 Chipset,
GeForce GTX 1650 4GB,
16GB 3200MHz RAM,
Kingston 2TB M.2 NVMe SSD,
SilverStone Precision PS15 RGB Case,
550W PSU,
WiFi,
Win 11 Home

and

Karuza Taurus V2 AMD 5500 6500 XT Gaming PC @ $1,199.00 Aus
AMD Ryzen 5 5500 6-Core processor,
Gigabyte Radeon RX 6500 XT graphics,
Thermaltake H-ONE 16GB RAM,
Kingston NV2 1TB PCIe NVMe SSD a
Gigabyte GP-P650B PSU.
Windows 11 Home and
D-Link AC1200 Wi-Fi

Both systems seem (to me) to be more than adequate. My biggest worry is whether they are too much for my 'Wings Over Flanders Field v1.27? And will WOFF run on Windows 11 without having to muck around trying to get it to run well? I know I should upgrade to BHAH II, but there's still sooo much to explore in WOFF. smile

Any comments greatly appreciated.

PS. Just had a 'orrible thought. Will my Microsoft Force Feedback 2 work on a Win 11 system?

Whichever you go for, get an NVidia GPU if you want to fly WOFF/WOTR at their best.
And the CPU with the best raw speed. If it's for generally computing I would still get the NVidia GPU personally.
I want AMD to compete but for WOFF/WOTR Nvidia is best.

That Intel CPU base speed is slow at 2.5Ghz - may be OK if you can overclock to the burst speed or at least over 4Ghz.

The beauty of BH&HII is you can get to explore all those things, but it will look and feel a whole lot better too whilst exploring, and has many new features to see up front.

Hi Pips forgive me for asking but are the prices in Oz that expensive? .. that’s not a lot of PC for the price (But I’m unaware of Aus prices). For WOFF the fastest single core cpu you can afford would be the best option,

Graphics card? I’m with Pol I nearly always recommend Nvidia they seem to update their drivers more regularly hotfixes etc. I personally wouldn’t be looking at getting anything less now than maybe a 2070 or above..depending on if you play other gaming titles.

16GB of ram is the minimum 32 if you can afford it.

CPU,S? I like the Amd Ryzen series..The Ryzen 5 5600x is a great little number and with the newer Ryzen CPUS out now they can be picked up reasonably cheap. If you know of someone that builds PC,s then it’s usually way cheaper to purchase the parts separately and have it built that way rather than having it “manufactured” so to speak..again forgive my ignorance regarding Aus prices. Sincerely hope you get sorted and enjoy your new Rig.

Thanks for the comments guys, appreciate it.

I thought GeForce and Nvidia were the same. Should I keep then my Nvidia GTX 1050 Ti?
My current CPU is an Intel i5-2400. Interestingly it runs at 3.10GHz. I would have thought that a Core released in 2022 would be much more efficient than one released in 2011.

Computer prices in Oz are wicked, almost daylight robbery compared to US and European equivalents. Smaller market definitely has something to do with it. frown

Nvidia is the company, G-Force is the name of their normal GPU card. So in essence they are one in the same.

The other reason to use Nvidia is that the newer AMD card/drivers do not allow you to see the rivers correctly in WOFF versus the Nvidia card/drivers make the rivers look like rivers.
