From what we learned from one of the original programmers the EAW multiplayer code was far from being finalised.
It is a set of make-do routines assembled in haste in order for the game to be released.
Because MP cannot allow time acceleration it is virtually impossible to fly ground-started missions in reasonable time.

The single mission code allows the target and home-base to be selected from a map, but the programmers did not have enough time to adapt this for use in multiplayer.

However, UAW160 does use a map for selection of the target and four bases.
The map shows the front-line, so bases can be selected close enough to it to allow enjoyable ground-started missions.
One can even return to base, re-fuel and re-arm.
The mission data is saved in script files which can be loaded and used for Multiplayer or "host only" games.
My current script folder has 290 scripts for selection.

Running the script selector:

Clicking Launch the map viewer to see where things are:

There is no need at all to know the target names.

Then I clicked the "Launch EAW" button and flew this ground-started mission.

The target is a reasonable distance away-101,013 feet which is just under 20 miles

My crash at the target was deliberate. You can see I took off at 11.55 and arrived at the target at 12.00, so it was a five minute flight in real-time.

Using the script maker

Opening screen -select your theatre:

If the required files are in the folder the"OK load the data" button will appear

Clicking it brings up the mission settings screen

Make the settings and set the date (which will be used for the sunrise and sunset times)
As it is a Darwin theatre I clicked the "Use Dawin Tiles" checkbox

Click "Select target and bases from the map"
[Linked Image]
The red circles are bases and the blue ones targets with no base.
Bringing the mouse cursor close to one displays the name, and clicking will select it

I selected "Allied Base 72" then clicked on "Target", "Friendly Primary HB" and "Friendly Secondary HB"

Similarly I selected "Axis Base 182" and set it as both the Enemy Primary HB" and "Enemy Secondary HB"

Then I clicked "Launch".The mission was saved and EAW ran.
Sitting on the tarmac at the start I checked the map:

Everything matched the settings wink

The saved file will be the most recent one in the "MPData/TempMissions" folder. After testing it can be copied and pasted into an appropriate sub-folder and re-named.
Alternatively if there are problems it can be deleted.

I just copied the file ("Mission46.txt") into my "Darwin December" sub-folder and re-loaded it with the script-loader to fly a test mission.

It worked well wink

If you can handle selecting things in single mission parameters then you should have no problems using the script-maker or the script-loader programs wink
Because of the selectable parameters I prefer flying host only missions to single missions.
