I have modified the script selector to create a file in the root folder when a script is selected.
I have created a new program that reads this file and allows the user to see the map, the frontline, the target and the bases.

The screenie shows my desktop with both programs running, and the map screen:
[Linked Image]
This gives a user who is unfamiliar with the theatres a chance to see where the action will be.
It also gives the script writers the ability to check existing scripts
For example I found differences in some default ET0 scripts where the target listed in the summary was not the one that you got when UAW160 ran.
This happened when the "Allied Carrier" (introduced in 1.28c) was removed from the default ETO theatre in order to match the ETO career files.

I just checked and found that there are 290 scripts in my "MPData160" folder covering a wide range of theatres.
Being able to see the frontline and the locations of the target and bases lets me select an interesting mission, for a host-only game.
Any user with this software can do that- there is no need to fly online smile

Jel, how can this be used with offline saved mission files?

I will check it out.
The map and frontline would be the same. However, there can only be the target and home-base to show as the exe generates AI planes in the air. It would be a matter of finding them in the msn file.

Interesting.

It would be useful to have some sort of utility that could also swap various saved single missions collections, into a scenario's Gamedata folder, (somewhat like the seasons swapper utility you made).

This could then make use of the single mission progression facility "a little career thing".

I have got something working. It is an editor from an old version that used MSN files in a "MSNfiles" folder as a basis for multiplayer scripts. The files are 800 bytes with the extra 400 having the data re the dir.set the plane-set and a summary of the mission.

It has taken a heap of work. There is no "MSNfiles" folder. The edited files are saved in the appropriate slot folders in the theatre's "GameData" folder. The utility will copy a file and save it under a new name.
Then the new version can then be loaded and edited.

I am looking at a way of adding the extra 400 bytes to an existing 400 byte file.

Here is an example of its use

Opening screen with the Dunkirk theatre, "Slot03" and "CopyTest3.msn" selected:

[Linked Image]

The file is now loaded for editing.
Note that the first friendly aircraft is in slot 9.
This file should be in "Slot09" and not "Slot03". I clicked "Save Edited" to fix that wink

[Linked Image]

There is now a " "CopyTest3.msn" in "Slot09":

Changing a plane-set is easy wink

Viewing just the target and home-base with the checkbox un-ticked

Viewing them all with the checkbox ticked for selection of a new target or home-base:

Astonishing, Jel.

I love the easy editing.

Suppose I had a folder that contained subfolders, each with a collection of msn files (each in its own slot folder) for a particular theatre. could this be used to swap them into the Gamedata folder.?

So for the sake of argument a "Mission Files" folder has a subfolder "1941-Barbarossa-Ukraine" which contains 30 slot folders, each with saved single mission files for that particular slot. Could those slot folders be swapped into the Gamedate folder replacing previous contets?

Yes. The exe reads the msn file from the theatre/Gamedata slot folder and displays them for selection when you click "Load" on the single mission parameters screen.
They will need to be 800 bytes if you want to edit them.

I think that I have finished it.

If you try to load a 400 byte file the utility adds an extra 400 bytes. Then it adds the dir.set referenced in the "CurrentLongDirSet", the plane-set referenced in "CurrentPlaneSet" and some dummy text as a description in the appropriate places in the extra 400 bytes. It saves the file so it can then be loaded if you click on it again.
You can use the DSPicker to load the appropriate plane-set and theatre before using the utility so that the "CurrentLongDirSet" and "CurrentPlaneSet" files are accurate.

I will put a copy in your folder at the Gen.

It is named "UAW160 MSN file maker 2023.exe"

I am just uploading a re-placement. The previous ones often had the four altitudes set at 20 feet. If they are less than 3000 feet they are set to 3000 feet.

I am just about to upload another replacement. Because you click on a folder to see the msn files the "dir.set" is already defined and the theatre loaded..
So there is no need to use "CurrentLongDirSet" file when a 400 byte file is upgraded to 800.

This exe adds the correct "Dir.Set" name to the appropriate location in the additional 400 bytes.
The 400byte msn files have no info re the plane-set, but you can then choose the appropriate plane-set using the editor.

Do I just put this in the root 1.6 folder where eaw.exe is?

I keep getting "Run time error 76 - path not found"

Later ...

It's still looking for a MSNfiles folder. When I add that folder it runs.

There is a "MSN file editor 2023.exe" in your folder which does not look for the "MSNfiles" folder.
