So I'm just getting back to playing WOFF BHH after last playing it in mid-December after the 1.35 patch was installed. I patched the game when 1.36 was released and then again when 1.37 was released. But just started playing again today.
Now I've noticed that my fps (with the same graphic settings as I used with 1.35) have really dropped using both the vanilla game or with mods. Before I used to get at least 70 fps on the ground and in the air a good 90-110 fps. Now I've dropped down to under 40 fps on the ground and maybe get up to 70 fps at the very most in the air.
I tried turning down the two new foliage settings to off for grass and low for forest density just to see if those were the cause and that did nothing to improve the fps. Same drop with both settings cranked up or turned off or down.
I had a good backup of WOFF 1.35 and went back to that just to see and my fps went back up to where they were before 1.36 was released.
I have all graphic settings set to the max so I maybe excepted a small drop in fps with the additions patches 1.36+ added, but I'm seeing like a 40% drop.
I tried re-patching that backup of 1.35 using the 1.37 patch and experienced that massive fps drop again.
I'm just asking because 1.35 ran great, but with 1.36 and 1.37, my fps dropped a lot with no changes to my settings or hardware. There were extra features added with those patches (airfield grass, new tree textures). Would that mean reducing my graphic settings in WOFF because of those new features? The only difference was the 2 latest patches.
Are you sure there are no other updates occurred, things like Windows update, GPU driver updates etc? Are you running from SSD? Is it full or nearly so? Windows 11?
Grass can be turned off in the workshop - so simply trying that would eliminate that for you to try. Textures are the same size, no difference in fps. Tree models are basically the same fps wise, no extras added just revised some parts to make it look better with no extra polys.
Only change done since 1.35 was an update nVidia driver for my RTX 3080 Ti. Otherwise everything hardware and software wise is the same. Same graphic settings too with WOFF 1.35 and WOFF 1.37 but that big fps drop with 1.37.
Everything on SSD and lots of space. Windows 10.
Turning off grass has no affect for fps. It's still the big drop.
I like to know if others have had the same fps impact with patches 1.36 or high.
Ok then it must be GPU driver settings. Grass you turned off and fps is the same so can't be that. It is the only thing that could slightly affect it from our point of view, and it's a small fps hit if anything. There is nothing else that can change fps in it.
No one else reported it, but I am sure many would have installed newer GPU drivers since - maybe check all the AA settings, your cfs3.exe profile if you have etc. Could also be Anti Virus updated that is doing something more on your system.
I also run a 3080Ti here btw. No change for me - minimal change in fps when I was testing grass.
Still trying some settings within the game and with my nVidia settings. Nothing has really helped, but I still have some stuff to check. Will continue to research to see why WOFF 1.37 is bogged down. Thanks.
So I finally got my 1.37 install running just as smoothly as 1.35 did. I tweaked a few settings in nVidia Inspector for the game that must have gotten reset and I didn't notice. Now I'm running the same full in-game graphic settings that was I before. I'm very happy with the performance.
