This reminds me of the time another french Canadian was in a goalie fight. I remember Ron Hextall, a known battler going after Toronto's Felix Potvin. I was thinking 'oh no, the last thing we need is Felix hurt". Who knew the soft spoken Potvin knew how to box ? taught by his father.
Good God, clearly Philly announcers. Hextall was the one who was cut.
Here is the Toronto feed. At 1:35 Tie Domi points out to Hextall that he is cut lol. Man I loved that team. Doug Gilmour, what a captain.(click watch on YouTube)
Yeah, that's Jim Jackson and I guess Gary Dornhoeffer.
This sounds like your guys.
Good win for the Flyers.
I remember yelling at the TV because Potvin got like leaving the crease and that was it, while Hexy had the book thrown at him. Every sort of misconduct plus instigator and probably disorderly conduct and a parking ticket. Game was over anyway, wasn't it?
Well you can't expect to wield supreme executive power just 'cause some watery tart threw a sword at you!
Yep. The buzzer just went. Penalties don't really matter at that point. Hextall did instigate it. Felix had no choice. I'd like to find the box score from that night.
Hockey Fights.com has it as a draw. 418 votes. I'd give the edge to Felix, he wasn't injured. Hextall thought he was gonna have an easy day at the office.
Even though Fleury beat my Wings in the Cup final in 2009, I think he's great. I would LOVE to see someone give Binnington a good ol' fashion beat down. I'm not sure MAF is the guy for that job though. That game was great last night. LET THEM FIGHT.
Of course these are my two most memorable goalie fights.
Oh yeah You are right about Bennington needing a beating. That Red Wings/Avs rivalry was one of the best. Thanks to a POS named Claude Lemieux. Plus both teams were very good.

Just like music, sport is a highly subjective taste so there is no objective "right" or "wrong". It's also the case that personal taste in a specific sport is closely tied to whether that person was raised with that sport or not in their environment.
“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”
Yeah, gotta agree if for no other reason than he had to be the underdog heading in to the bout, and held his own and dished it out. Even if the fight was technically a draw, Potvin wins for exceeding expectations
I bet Domi started it.

Well Domi did fight Daniels with 8 seconds to go in the game. According to the box score. Then all hell broke loose at the buzzer.
Felix was so soft spoken, nobody saw him handling himself so well. It has to be acknowledged that Hextall did skate the length of the ice, pretty fast with goalie equipment on. So he burnt a little bit of fuel there.
Looked back at that season (27 years ago??) That was the season Doug Gilmour was traded. Not a good year for the buds.
