I have the Steam version of Steel Fury and JSGME was installed before I installed STA. I followed these instructions from a poster in the steam discussion group.

1.Unzip the mod folder,
2.run jsgme.exe and disable all the your currently active mods in reverse order.
3.Remove all the mods from the MODS folders inside the STA3.4 folder and paste them to the actual Steel Fury 1942 game MODS directory, create a MODs directory if you don't have one. These mods are installed individually and in the order described below- the installation order is important
4.once you've moved all the mods, delete JSGME.exe and JSGME.ini files located in STA3.4 folder; you shouldn't need these files as JGSME should already be installed if you have the steam version.
5.move the STA3.4 folder itself into the actual Steel Fury 1942 game MODS directory
6.run JSGME.exe
7.disable compass mod and unofficial patch (these files are installed by default in the Steam version)
7,5.delete data\sound\loc_rus\speech directory (or copy elsewhere safe) note: I just renamed the folder and left it in place.
8.enable the mods in the following order polygons2.8, ssm2.7, STA 3.4 and you are done, now you can play.
9.to play you have expand the common section, select local server click 'start' (this window will pop up when you start the game, leave the language as 'non English ' or the game won't start}
10.enable other mods with JSGME if you wish to experiment what are they about (?) Note that the weather mods should be added and removed as you need them, pretty sure you can't just activate everything at once.
Note I'd already used the 4GB fix on the Steel Fury executables, whether this is needed for the STA mod I don't know. It works with it.

I still get the occasional scenario that won't load and in some scenarios there appears to be elements of the skins absent on some of the tanks, but other than that it is a brilliant piece of work.

One other point, newbie learning curve to a certain extent. My screen is 3440 x 1440. Although the resolution is supported you will need to manually edit the the aspect ratio in the engconfig file to 2.388888 or the playing screen will stretch the images on the screen.

Enjoy :-)

ok, I've been playing around with the sim. looks great, but I found that some of the missions wouldn't load and in some of those that did load there were weird texture anomalies on some of the vehicles and some of the grassy areas were quite barren in appearance.

The F8 planning map was a nightmare to navigate because even a max zoom out it was still only 500m across 2 grid squares, basically. You can work with it, but finding your troops initially is a bit like blind man's buff.

After much tweaking and fiddling this is the conclusion I arrived at. The mod does not like high resolution settings. My screen is 3440x1440. Maybe the aspect ratio is a problem as well?
At 1920x1080 everything is perfect. I slowly cranked up my screen settings and tested the same scenario. 2560x1440 seems to be ok. no graphical anomalies so far.

Nope, I had to drop back to 1920x1440. manually adjusted the aspect ratio to 1.33 in the config file and so far everything seems to run fine. try the training mission in the Matilda 2, at 1920x1440 the grass is luxuriant, at any higher res the grass and flowers disappears and it looks more like a snooker table.

Yup, the mod does not work well with stretched screens at high resolutions. It will run, but loading missions is a bit hit and miss and those that do load may have graphical anomalies on some of the vehicle textures, plus you don't get all that lovely grass to drive through.

Load polygons2.8, ssm2.7, and STA 3.4 run the 4GB patch and you are good to go.

For a sim that was first released in around 2008 with the STA Mod it's as good as most if not better than most WW2 armor sims out there today. Sure, Tank Crew graphics are stunning but SFK currently has a lot more depth and variety. An astonishing piece of work.

Cheers

Paul

A sound appreciation. The Japanese Community Mod is worth having as a second install for additional variety in missions and vehicles, including a few 'fakepanzers'.
