Good point on the bands name.

As a teen, when we were really lucky, City TV would play Live At Pompeii late at night. It was always fun to watch some poor, one toke over the line friend watch this. The scream is unmatched.

I often wonder when Roger stopped being able to do that "inhale scream". I listened to a show I went to in 1984 (YouTube) and he did it a bit then. But that has to be something he lost the ability to do a long time ago.

A real treat, for the 50th anniversary of TDSOTM would have been HD video footage of that tour. Sadly it does not seem to exist.

As for your sig MarkG, it was one of the final songs of his recent setlist.

I found the ending of this tours setlist very anti climactic. NO ENCORE. WTF. I waited 15 months for this ? Still a night out with my wife (night one) and a night out with my son, the following day. (Me and the boy had a better time at Iron Maiden a few months later)

I did not realize this was Toronto. So I was at this show. Better seats that this guy haha.

Roger's new DSotM will probably not appeal to me. smile

Country vibe ? F that.

This project has disaster written all over it.

All very cool, WT. The beginning two notes of "Careful With That Axe, Eugene" sound to me like the same beginning notes of "Goodbye Cruel World" (The Wall).

Two Suns in the Sunset live! thumbsup

++++++++++

Makes me want to listen to PF right now, but I've got tickets to see Rush's Exit Stage Left this evening which starts in about an hour. Printing tickets for own living room is corny, I know.

Looks around at audience....

There's a Rock-looking chick sitting by herself who I think has been eyeing me, and no dudes have been around her. Too old to be a groupie but still cute and definitely my type. Think I'll 'buy' her a drink and see if she'll let me sit with her for during show, then see how the evening plays out. I better hit the restroom first while the crowd is light (never want to stand in line just to piss in a sink again).

Rush is always so good live! band

Well good luck to you MarkG. It's been a very long time since I've had the thrill of the chase. I wish you luck. Is it playing at a theatre ?
I saw Rush back in the day. Grace Under Pressure tour. They sold out Maple Leafs Gardens 3 nights in a row. Home town boys.

Actually, Roger cares more about his causes (war, homelessness) than he does in personal attention. He's had plenty of that.

I don't see a need for a rerecording of TDSOTM. No way you are going to improve upon the original, no bloody chance. You can't improve the guitar solo in Time. It's perfection. Re-do Us and Them ? why ? Leave it alone.

I would like to see the movie The Wall redone. It is showing it's age.

A remake of The Wall would be cool. You are right, the original hasn't aged very well. I worry that the original message of The Wall would not be intact though.

Yeah, sounds like Roger is really into "re imagining things". Some of it due to his limited vocal range no doubt, but he is 79 years old.
A song like Run Like Hell seemed quite relevant during the Covid days. An interpretation of that would be interesting.

I watched The Wall recently with my son. Afterwards I noticed Hey You was cut out. WTF ? a fantastic song. Apparently Roger thought there were too many depressing moments, and it was cut out. One of the highlights of the movie and album IMO.

Google machine says most of the world spells it with the "u".

The shorter one, color, is the preferred spelling in the United States. The rest of the English-speaking world uses the longer form, colour

Friday night was a good time, at least what I remember of it. Rush played some songs off their upcoming album, including a really good one named "Living In The Limelight." Not a typo. Can't wait to get it.

That chick I met was cool, if a little crazy. She knew her Rush which should have been a red flag. We hit it off and had fun after the show, and I got her number (assuming it's not a fake). Maybe we'll catch Pink Floyd in the future... With Roger.

Pink Floyd - Live at Pompeii [1971]

She's also a Fixx fan, but I'm not finding any concerts. frown

They just wanted to be pretentious.

I love Live At Pompeii. I do not like how they split Echoes into 2 parts though.
Fun fact you might not know, all footage (except Nick Mason's) for One Of These Days was either misplaced or destroyed by accident (I can't remember which)
That is why you only see Nick throughout the whole song.

Context. He has been doing this consistently since the 2010 Wall tours. He is in character. He also did it during the original Wall tour of 80/81. The crossed hammers are not swastikas.[Linked Image]
When I took my wife last summer, she did think it was shocking to see him shoot a machine gun into the crowd. (she said what will people in the USA think, because of mass shootings) The last line in the song explains it.
He is an artist in character as a fascist . BTW, this song came out in Dec. 1979. These articles are from uninformed journalists.

In The Flesh

So ya thought ya
Might like to go to the show
To feel the warm thrill of confusion
That space cadet glow?
I got some bad news for you, sunshine
Pink isn't well, he stayed back at the hotel
And they sent us along as a surrogate band
We're gonna find out where you fans really stand
Are there any queers in the theater tonight?
Get 'em up against the wall (against the wall)
Now there's one in the spotlight, he don't look right to me
Get him up against the wall (against the)
And that one looks Jewish
And that one's a coon
Who let all this riff-raff into the room?
There's one smokin' a joint
And another with spots
If I had my way
I'd have all of you shot

I was curious if he would you the c**n line in concert, as his current wife is black. Yep, he did.

From the 1982 movie The Wall. Bob Geldof plays the character in the movie (his vocals are not up to par imo), that Roger plays live. It is not praising fascism. If anything, it shows how easily impressionable people are (Sheep). It's a warning. (Dogs)

BTW, being pro Palestine does not make you an anti Semite. Roger is against killing ALL innocent people, especially children. It's in his lyrics. His frustration come from Palestinian babies being fair game for some reason.

Sometimes I stare at the night sky
See them stars a billion light years away
And it makes me feel small like a bug on a wall
Who gives a sh*t anyway?
Who gives a sh*t anyway?

When World War II was over
Though the slate was never wiped clean
We could have picked over them broken bones
We could have been free
But we chose to adhere to abundance
We chose the American Dream
And oh mistress liberty
How we abandoned thee
How we abandoned thee
And oh Mistress Liberty
How we abandoned thee

Could have been born in Shreveport
Or he could have born in Tehran
It don't much matter wherever you're born
Little babies mean us no harm
They have to be taught to despise us
To bulldoze our homes to the ground
To believe their fight is for liberty
To believe that their God will keep them safe and sound
Safe and sound
Safe and sound

We cannot turn back the clock
Cannot go back in time
But we can say "f*ck you"
We will not listen to
Your bullsh*t and lies
Your bullsh*t and lies

Waters isn't a fascist and it should be quite obvious that his wearing of a Nazi-like uniform is intended to be a political statement.

However, he IS an ultra left winger and also hypocritical when it comes to the ongoing Israeli/Palestinian conflict.
