I can definitely relate...

Fall of 1973 (Senior year of high school). Our varsity cross country team:

I'm second from the right.

Third from the left is Don Paige, who went on to make his mark on the Track & Field world. If not for Jimmy Carter's boycott of the Moscow Olympics, Don would have been representing us in the 800 meters event. (He finally got to race against Sebastion Coe later that year and won).

The fellow on the right end is actually the fellow who is second from the left, filling in for his absent twin brother by wearing his glasses. wink

Oh, how the world has changed...

I was only 6, so really vague memories...

I remember moving out of Baton Rouge into the boonies, and then starting 1st grade.

I remember spending most of my weekends and summers with a favorite aunt and uncle. I'd frequently go with my aunt to visit her best friend who's little house I remember well, along with a trailer on the property (only ~50' away). There were kids in the trailer who I never wanted to play with (I was a loner type), although I'd watch them swim in a little blue pool on side of the house.

One of those kids, the one who won the swimming pool playing Bingo and who had insisted a couple years previous on showing me her new Easy-Bake Oven (or so I'm told...I was disinterested) is about to cook me honey-glazed salmon and asparagus tips w/almond slithers for dinner. So, kudos to Easy-Bake Ovens for getting them started young. smile

A great scene from a classic movie.

I got thwacked more than a few times by Nuns with yardsticks/pointers. I swear they were like Sith Lords with light sabers back then.

Great photo CyBerkut! As for me, I was a 1 year old toddler in 1973 so hence no personal memories of that year for me. biggrin

The fellow in the middle sent me the scan of it. He did the old school cut and paste (back before things like photoshop) to add the second twin brother image on. smile

Apparently, 1973 was a good year for you, even if you don't remember it! wink

I had to look at the wiki for 1973 I was 13, 8th grade in Junior High we didn't call it Middle School then and I can't recall too much about school but I remember some of the significant events. Skylab stands out, the Russian Concorde Tu-144 crash at the Paris Airshow is another. Watergate and Nixon's impeachment. 50 years ago, wow.
