I think it's because too many people are famous.
Increases the odds.
No, now go away or I shall taunt you a second time!

Additionally, the people who were famous as we grew up are now approaching old age ; just as we are.
Good people sleep peaceably in their beds at night only because rough men stand ready to do violence on their behalf.
Someday your life will flash in front of your eyes. Make sure it is worth watching.

Famous folks die all the time. We just have instant news about their deaths now because of the internet/social media.
When John Lennon died, most Americans didn't even know about it until the next day since he died late in the evening. Lennon's death was announced by Howard Cosell on Monday Night Football.
Throughout history, poverty is the normal condition of man. Advances which permit this norm to be exceeded — here and there, now and then — are the work of an extremely small minority, frequently despised, often condemned, and almost always opposed by all right-thinking people. Whenever this tiny minority is kept from creating, or (as sometimes happens) is driven out of a society, the people then slip back into abject poverty. This is known as "bad luck.” -Robert Heinlein

Yes I know but that was late at night and not all Americans watched MNF.

When John Lennon died, most Americans didn't even know about it until the next day since he died late in the evening. Lennon's death was announced by Howard Cosell on Monday Night Football. I was in grade 7, we had a class called Current Events. That's how I found out. He had just released Double Fantasy, and a few of the songs were getting heavy air play (radio was my only source of music) even before his assassination.
