Well you know Bob Geldof called "Pink" a neurotic a**hole when he acted as Pink in that film, he found the script ridiculous and publicly described Roger Waters' lyrics as the "left-wing frothy ramblings of a millionaire afflicted with a social conscience"

That description of Waters by Geldof is absolutely brilliant.

It’s probably true, but he sure could write songs.

Yes, his talent was undeniable. I usually have no problem separating the art from the person. Another example is Richard Wagner. The guy was debtor, womanizer and anti-semite but his music was absolute brilliance.

Keep in mind in 1981 Geldof was considered a punk rocker. It was mandatory to hate big successful rock stars. I never cared for Bob's singing in the movie. Highly inferior to the original songs.
The Wall, movie, sure did not hurt Geldof's career. It propelled him to be big enough of a star to organize Live Aid. Before the movie, Geldof was the guy who sang I Don't Like Mondays.

Bob formed a band called the Boomtown Rats in dublin back in the 70/80 timespan.

They had OKish sucess with an album called :Tonic for the troops

But they kinda faded out after that album as happens with lots of bands,

But go figure???

Next thing he appears as the main actor in the WALL....

Honestly reckon Roger gave Geldof the part and then realised his mistake

Geldof then moves on with live aid and becomes huge.
