Oh, I wish I had a VR headset!!! Unfortunately as a retiree that falls outside my budget. I got my Omen laptop recently via Air Miles points. All the years of collecting Air Miles and not redeeming any finally paid off - I discovered their online merchandise catalogue and redeemed 'em for the laptop (which I'm very pleased with.
This upcoming VR Visual Update has a huge benefit for those with more modest systems flying with 2D monitors: the graphics are stunning, especially in 4K. A few years ago I went to the local electronics box store - Best Buy - on their Black Friday Sale around the US Thanksgiving and picked up my 55" LG 4K LED TV. It is NOT a "smart TV", so at that time it was just a few hundred bucks out the door. Likely Best Buy were trying to free up valuable warehouse space for the bigger/better replacements. I spent a little extra on an HDMI cable to handle the extra 4K bandwidth and never looked back. With True Sky clouds, 4K terrain, cockpits, exteriors my little laptop can still render smooth framerates with ingame video settings max'd. Admittedly, there are times it struggles a bit when I push dozens of planes in formation or fly (literally) through the streets of London or Calais, but overall being an eye-candy hog I love the visuals.
Gunfreak now has the ability to import True Sky into his Cliffs of Dover Campaign so it'll be interesting to see how he does using his VR headset. Stay tuned.....
