Seems like something most Fantasy fans would enjoy.

It seems pretty dumb and formulaic.

Those reviews are nice but what will really ultimately matter is how many people actually pay to go see it in a theater. You'll find this interesting:

$2 billion is possible when cinema admission are $20-25 (3D), $15 (No 3D). What were prices in 2009?

The ticket prices are not the issue. The issue here is attendance which was declining even before COVID hit and attendance now is nowhere near back to full recovery. We've had a systemic fundamental shift with the business model. Most consumers now are fine with just waiting until the movie goes on a streaming service instead of going to see it in a movie theater.

I'm not saying it's impossible that Avatar 2 hits the 2 billion global mark but it will be a tough challenge in today's environment.

Cinema used to be ~4.50 or less way back in the 80s, and then one could see a true dollar movie, as well. Wait three months and see 'em for cheap. The popcorn wasn't nearly as outrageously priced, either.

Avatar 1 had incredibly bad writing, especially in the dialogue department, so I highly doubt anything said by these reviewers. The film was terrible.

Adjusted for inflation, movie theater ticket prices in the 80's are equivalent to what they cost now and besides, movie ticket prices are not the number one reason why theater attendance has declined. The number one reason is the advent of streaming services and continually improving home entertainment tech.

There's no way to quantify this of course but I'd say that at least 80% of the people who went to see Avatar in 2009 did so for the 3D visuals and NOT the quality of the writing.

Things ain't good at Warner.

Quote
The short of it is that:

Wonder Woman 3 is canceled
Ben Affleck Batman cut from Aquaman 2 and done as Batman
Jason Momoa done playing Aquaman, now playing Lobo
Henry Cavill cut from The Flash and not playing Superman, with Man of Steel 2 not happening
Dwayne Johnson Black Adam sequels/spin-offs may be canceled
Plans for the SnyderVerse characters and Justice League 2 axed
Gunn and Safran reboot the DCU
The Matt Reeves and Robert Pattinson The Batman sequel and spinoffs are safe

https://cosmicbook.news/henry-cavill-ben-affleck-aquaman-black-adam-james-gunn-dc-reboot-rumors

Hard pass.

M3GAN is a low budget scifi indie film that will be released in January. It will come and go and be forgotten about after a couple of days.

I'm intrigued by "The Fabelmans" but the first film with Colin Farrell seems like an utter snoozefest to me after I read the plot summary.
