The last board game I played was Scrabble. I was on a weekend trip with my wife and we went to a coffee shop and they actually had a Scrabble game there on one of the tables.

Cool. Love Scrabble (old pic). What I have yet to play is my Atlanta Monopoly (also pictured) even though it's decades old (90's I think)...

Heh, I had no idea there was an Atlanta version of Monopoly. I'm pretty sure I was in high school when I last played Monopoly.

Ah Monopoly. Not sure I can play it any more. Used to play with my oldest brother, his wife and a few others. One of the last video clips of him before his passing was of him playing Monopoly and cutting up / acting silly.

I don't know if this would have been considered a toy, but as a child this is how I learned the states...

I would imagine the 1790 version of that puzzle would be quite easy to complete.

Yeah, less pieces for sure, although those little N.E. states would still be tricky.

The Rand McNally map puzzle that I had (exact one in my above pics) from the 1960's (passed down from my older brother) was quite challenging at first.
I haven't seen anything quite like it today except for Fisher Price looking versions with the small northeastern states all fused together and/or having background layout borders and other cheats ...

We have several SimHQ members who were kids during the 50's so you may get a reply! The closest thing I ever had to that was a chemistry set in the mid-80's.

If you read that wikipedia entry, you'll see that lab was very expensive. That is going to be a fairly exclusive club.
I Google and and Google: minimum wage was 75 cents per hour and the average income for a middle class family of 4 was $250 a month and the average monthly mortgage was $59.
One had to be rich to buy their kids a $49.50 toy.

Well, maybe some of our older SimHQ members came from well off families? You never know.
